Topic: new helmet
Message: I am a very, very content owner of a 2000 RE Military Bullet.
I just purchased a beautiful custom painted helmet from Davida in the
UK. It is a 3/4 DOT approved and painted olive drab with a wide gold strip.
It cost $255 but it is too small for me and I can't return it so I am
ordering a new one. I would like to sell this one for about $200. It has
never been worn. it is a medium size 58cm. I am in the Chicago area and
can be reached at 800.848.9729 or [email protected]
Thanks, Richard Adams
Topic: electric starter
Message: Has an electric starter been retrofitted on the Bullet? Are you
going to be at the bike show in Chicago in 2001?
Yes, we will be at the Chicago
Cycle World show for 2001. At present there is not a starter available
for the Enfield.
Topic: Sidecar models
Message: Hi! I am planning to purchase a Royal Enfield 500 this Spring
and want to get the "Rocket" sidecar to go with it. I did not see any
notice on the Enfield accessories page of what colour/finish will be available.
Can anyone advise me?
Excited in Houston
At present, the sidecars
come in Black.
Topic: Enfield Kickstarter
Message: It looks like the kickstarter was designed with a bend in it
to avoid hitting the stock muffler when starting the engine. The result
is that the kickstarter sticks out from the gearbox and rubs on my right
ankle bone when I ride. A straight kickstarter wouldn't irritate my ankle
and should fit if I installed a long exhaust pipe. Is a straight kickstarter
available as a spare part?
You might try moving the
kickstart lever one or two notches toward the rear.

The Netherlands, presently studying in New Delhi, India. Coming March
(2001) I plan to drive my Enfield Lightning 500cc back to Holland. Anyone

Message: I have a I have a high comp. piston and a short muffler on my
Bullet 500, and I must say, it is worth every $$$$ !!! I just came back
from servicing my Bullet at Centaur Cycle and tried a stock Bullet and
I would say the performance difference is mind blowing, both response
and speed wise.Once again Richard performed an amazing service, my Bullet
now tops out at over 85mph............ Thanks Richard!!! ;o)

Topic: Classic '55 Bullet
Message: Hi, I'm new to the Royal Enfield mystique & have one quick Q:
How can I tell a vintage '55 Bullet from a recently produced one? Any
surefire giveaways, such as serial #'s, or design changes? Thanks, waiting
for an answer in Los Angeles, Beautiful California!

Topic: Import Requirements
Message: Is anyone clear on the specifications (and/or paperwork) necessary
for import of an Enfield from abroad to Illinois or California. I am in
India and have a 1995 500cc and would like to bring it home with me. And
advice is greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me as well: [email protected]
It can't be done. There is
no legal way to do it. Sell your bike in India and buy a new or used one
when you return here.
Topic: 11969 750 INTERCEPTOR
Message: DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE CHROME TANK ON THE DELUX WITHOUT THE
LOGOS & KNEE PADS IS THE SAME AS THE 75O INTERCEPTOR? IT LOOKS VERY SIMILAR
TO ME . THANKS, SAM MCCARTY
Topic: importing from india - don't try it!
Message: Unfortunately, I learned this lesson the hard way. US Customs
seized my brand new 98 350 a couple of years ago. 2000 bucks down the
drain. I did, however, have more success when I imported a fully restored
and reconditioned 1960 350 Bullet. DOT and EPA laws don't apply to bikes
that old. I've had it here for several months now, and it runs great!
Still, it's a crapshoot, and I think you're better off waiting and buying
a new one when you get here. Scott
Topic: V-twin enfields
Message: Someone had asked in an earlier message about V-twin Enfields.
Enfield started making twins in 1910 and continued until 1939. They used
MAG or JAP engines from 1910 until 1913. In 1914 they had developed thier
own 425cc "T" head engine that unlike earlier motors had a pressure feed
oiling system for the mainbearing only. It had a two speed transmission
and made a claimed 14bhp. I can find to source that would indacate that
a 1000cc modle was ever built. Interesting side note. The Encyclopedia
of the Motorcycle by Hugo Wilson notes that cira 1936 the 500 JF modle
was equiped with a four valve head. An intresting idea.
Topic: Just Got One
Message: Just bought a 500 Bullet which is 4 year's old. I fell in love
with it the minute I saw it. Had some trouble (and still am having trouble)
starting it but I was told that once I've got the knack, it would be a
breeze... I am still waiting for the breeze to fan away my sweat. The
Bullet I have is one with the gear shift/brake pedal 'reversed' ie. the
gear shift is on the right. First time I got on it nearly got me into
trouble stomping madly on the gear shift trying to avoid running into
a ditch. Is there a way to convert the setup into a 'conventional' form?

Topic: Len Burton
Message: If you see me riding my new bike - please wave at me!!
Topic: Enfield for Hawaii
Message: I would like to get an Enfield India to use here in Hawaii. Does
anyone have any idea about the likely legal difficulties with registration
in this State? I believe our emissions laws etc are less strict than California
for instance. Any foresight appreciated before I get too carried away!
