Topic: new owner
Message: I reluctantly took a 99 500 classic model in trade for one
of my BMW's a few weeks ago. I have owned 50 or more bikes over the past
30 years, most of them BMW, and have ridden many hundreds of thousands
of miles. Strangely, I have ridden the bullet exclusively since it came
into the garage. My collection of other bikes is getting dusty ! What
a great bike this thing is to ride. I'm looking forward to tunig her up
and adding accessories, probably including a sidecar this winter. If anyone
out there is wavering about whether to buy one of these, my advice is
waste no more time ! You have not had so much fun on a motorcycle in years
!

Topic: lights on rewiring
Message: I have pre 99 Enfield and whenever I go to ignition lights
are on before start. Has anyone determined if its possible to dectivate
lights in first ignition on position and activate in second ignition position(appears
there is brown jumper on ign switch that may be light feed). I don't like
draining battery w/lights when all I am doing in many cases is tune up
work. thx

Topic: safety concerns
Message: I have heard that th transportation safety board in Canadasay
that these bikes do not meet Canadian safety standards and so cannot be
registered here. Is this true? What are the safety concerns> I would
love to own a Bullet.
The Royal
Enfield is fact meets all Canadian requirements. Like all
governments Canada has it's own requirements for a motorcycle. Canada
uses
US standards for the most part. The Royal Enfield was imported into Canada
until a few years ago. The Canadian importer let his paperwork lapse which
is
the current issue. Even though the rules or the bike haven't changed Canada
wants REM to re-do all of the paperwork which is extensive. The irony
is that
the standards Canada refers to, are mostly self-certifying as far as the
US
DOT is concerned. They also accept US EPA certification. The bottom line
for
Royal Enfield Motors is determining the trade off between the size of
the
Canadian market and the cost associated with trying to get through all
of the
red-tape. It's a classic case of government vs common sense. For the present
Canada has determined that it does not want to recertify the bike without
a
reapplication even though it has done so in the past. Bottom line is that
they are not available to our Canadian neighbors

Message: Any word on a Royal Enfield Clubman race replica coming to
American shores?! Price? Did I miss it? All I want for Cristmas is my
new club- man-PLEASE. I know, it doesn't rhyme with (front teeth)- lame,
but I thought I'd try. Anyway, I'm dying to know! Some info. please. Thanks
for your time.
Happy Holidays,

We are supposed
to be getting 10 kits before Christmas. We have been promised
them before so we are not sure about the accuracy of the promise. When
they
come they will be sold to dealers with a new bike which is the base of
the
Clubman. We aren't sure about the pricng yet although we are expecting
them
to be around $2000, plus the labor to install them. If you are interested
you
should contact your dealer and have them put down a deposit on one as
they
are going very quickly

Topic: Retro Fitting
Message: I have been considering whether to invest in an Enfield.
My main question is whether there is a sufficient network of accesories
that will allow the motorcycle to more closely resemble the original 1950's
styling. I have owned the same 50's bobbed style Harley for 20 years now.
Believe me I have fallen prey to the one size fits all and may need minor
adjustments trap. Does anyone out there use the Bates style Solo and Pillion
seats with a set of Flanders high rise bars anymore? I am just curious
as I am not wanting to be limited in my choices (or lack of)as in the
case of the so-called Japanese accesories.
If you go
to our e-store at www.enfieldmotorcycles.com, you will see our full
line of retro accessorries. If you e-mail us your address at
reparts@means.net we will send you our latest color catalog

It's getting close to restoration time for the boxer . I'm into the retro
cafe look. I'm interested in the 500cc model. I'm not looking for crotchrocket
speeds just fun riding . My question is , is there any performace products
out there for these bikes . By the way they look sexy as is .
