Topic: got my bullet today in FLA
Message: great dealer near orlando is where after shopping around
for 3 months i finnally got my bullet 500 classic in silver, solo seat
of course, i never riden efore except at the saftey class where i dumped, but
this bike is great, i am getting up at 5am to ride the longer roads near
me to break it in past the 50mile mark on the odometer since i live in
a small street of busy streets in the day time.
after shoppong around at all the florida dealers i found the best place
to be in holopaw, at holopaw corvette, Gene the owner easily sold me when
he did'nt B.S me like alot, of the other dealers in south FLA, though
i got his name from a dealer in daytona, who was very nice, who said he
was closer too me and had one in stock.
not only did i get a great price, no set up fee,no freight charges, and
he brought over to my house an hour from his shop, no charge, and no extra
charges. very honest. i would really recommend him to any one in orlando
or tampa and ft laurderdale(some dealers that i called gave me alot of
b.s, when i called, after reading thier ads).
any way i reccommend these to anyone who wants a modern classic.

Topic: California reg.
Message: For those asking about California title, I just got
my CA plates after waiting to rack up 7500 miles (CA requirement). The
VIN number series is not in their computer system but if the out-of-state
papers and the bike match, they will not complain. Total cost was 74 bucks.
No inspection needed other than looking for the frame numbers.

Topic: new engine & gear box
Message: Read an article recently about the introduction of a
new lean burn bullet engine that comes with a re-designed 5 speed box.
Will the new 'box be retro-fittable to 500 bullets? Mine doesn't really
need the extra gear but I would be very keen to get my hands on something
that shifts a bit cleaner. Any tips on elininating false neutrals - I've
tried all kinds of oils to no effect. martin.girschik@woodside.com.au
The 5-speed
transmission will not retrofit to a Bullet. It will be part
of a new bike, that we don't expect to see in the US for quite some time
if at all. As for false neutrals, after several years of Bullet riding
I find that you can all but eliminate them by technique. The shift mechanism
is a ratchet that requires that you fully let go of it before shifting
to the next gear. Then a very deliberate shift is the key. Forget fast
shifting on the bike!!

AMONGST THIS IS A 1938,39 BULLETS .BUT I CANT WORK OUT WHICH FRAME AND
ENGINE GO TOGETHER,AS THERE ARE SMALL DIFFERENCES.AS I CANT GET HOLD OF
A PARTS MANUAL WITH PICTURES.I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS IF SOMEONE CAN HELP
ME IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
1. I HAVE A 5 PIECE FRAME WITH 11/16 AXLE SLOTS AND NO BRAKE PEDAL PIVOT
AND CAST IN STEERING LOCK STOPS. 2. A 3 PIECE FRAME WITH 11/16 AXLE SLOT.
ANOTHER 3 PIECE WITH 13/16 AXLE SLOT. THESE HAVE BRAKE PEDAL PIVOTS. ALSO
THE REAR FRAMES HAVE TWO BOLTS TO JOIN THEM THEN A BOLT TO JOIN FRONT
WITH REAR.
3. A 3 PIECE FRAME WITH 13/16 AXLE SLOT BUT THE REAR FRAME ONLY JOINS
THE FRONT FRAME UNDER SEAT.
I CAN'T FIND ANY FRAME NUMBERS.
I ALSO HAVE 2 CRANK CASE WITH, IT LOOKS LIKE A BREATHER ON THE L/H/S OF
THE ENGINE IN FRONT OF THE MAIN SHAFT. TWO WITH BREATHERS L/H/S REAR OF
MAIN SHAFT AND 1 PAIR WITH NO BREATHER AT ALL.
SO AS YOU CAN SEE I HAVE A BIG JOB INFRONT OF ME.
SOME ENGINE NO. ARE G 3486, G 8860 & 21504.

Topic: California 7500 mile deal???
Message: I just read in an August Message about someone putting
7500 miles on their Bullit and then getting it licensed in calif. I'd
like to know more about this and how to do it. I've been thinking about
getting an Enfield. I fell in love with one when I was about 15 - way
back in 1965. Got to ride it around the block. Looks like it might be
a good thing to do now. Also I live close to Lakeview Oregon - where is
the closest dealer that actually deals and rides enfields??? Thanks. LBM

Topic: Customer Service and Satisfation
Message: I must express my total satifaction with your customer
sevice. I ordered a solo seat and got the wrong bracket when I called
your 800 number Terri got the right parts in the mail the same day. No
questions, no difficulty, no hassles, you people have a high class operation
going and I am proud to say you have outclassed everybody in the bike
business. My enfield cap is off to everyone at Classic Motorworks. Keep
up the good work. As for my solo seat It was a snap to install and the
result is a stunning bike. Damn, I love my Enfield!
PS, I got the kick start drill down pat and it fires up on the first kick
every time and no longer punishes my ankle. bwylie@nci3.net

the 350 and the 500? Is the cylinder the same, only bored out? do people
upgrade 350's to 500? misfitsailor@juno.com
The 350 and
the 500 are different engines in many respects including crankcase, crankshaft,
piston, rod head etc.

Message: A word of caution for all you Bulleters...don't be ham
handed as I am and really crank down on the oil drain plugs to prevent
leaks. A steel drain plug overtorked into an aluminum crank-case = stripped
out threads. However, all is not lost if you do strip the threads. Clean
the residue out and flush
the system and install a 1/2 inch expandable rubber oil plug until you
can make more permanent repairs. These are available at NAPA dealers and
other auto part stores. The block can be repaired with a helicoil, but
I would recommend finding a Time-Sert brand rethreading kit. This consists
of a steel bushing
with internal and external threads, and the drill bit, countersink, tap
and installer bit to make repairs and install the insert. When done properly
the insert is self locking and the repair is as good or better than the
original. Time-Sert can be found on the internet at timesert.com
Good luck and safe riding!

muffler combo, K&N air filter, #30 pilot, and #130 main jetfrom your
catalog. I love the results-power and sound, and would recommend these
changes to anyone. Question-what do I do with the clear hose that used
to run into the air box? Do I need any gaskets when I change the countershaft
sprocket that I have purchased from you?
You can discard the hose and plug the hole in the
oil catch can under the seat. You will need one gasket to make the sprocket
change.
