Topic: dragging clutch on 95 model 500
Message: I am having trouble witht he clutch dragging on my 95 model
500 cc indian built machine,
I was wondering if anyone out there has any good tips on rectifying thisproblem,
it is the
only thing that ruins an otherwise good fun bike
The usual reason for
this -problem is either a clutch that needs adjustment
so that it disengages further, or one which is low on oil in the primary
chaincase.

Topic: My Picture is Getting Ruined
Message: I have a Royal Enfield 500cc Bullet Classic on order!YEEEhaw!...A
new 2002 model, British Racing Green with tan solo seat...It has been
on order since around Christmas which is when I finally told my wife "I
am ordering it anyway" and called her bluff...Turns out she loves
me, 'cause she just smiled, and said: "about time you stood up for
yourself & made up your mind"...whatever that was supposed to
mean after telling me I could'nt buy a motorcycle since I had turned forty
a year earlier and started to have my mid-life crisis and began laying
hints that I really wanted a bike and saying things like "life is
short" and remembering being 13 yrs. old when all my friends had
dirt bikes and my Mom would'nt buy me one 'cause I would kill myself....and
I made a pact to myself that one day when I was no longer financially
dependant on my folks, to buy myself a motorcycle.....Well, that day has
come!!!...I chose the Royal Enfield even though my first choice was a
Harley and I!
can afford one...because the Harley would be my ticket to the Mortuary
and my dead body would have to hear my 70 yr. old Mom say "I told
you so" at my funeral....I wanted to start with something less powerful
but it still had to be cool....After looking around for a year (while
I worked on my wife)...I finally came across a photo of the Bullet Electric
starter with solo saddle.... THIS WAS IT BABY!...The Dealer up at Salem,
Or. has been real helpful & knows his stuff..(which is good, 'cause
I can barely keep my lawnmower running)..The bike came in freight damaged
and he had to order again..now I'm waiting on the bad snowy weather to
allow the new shipment across the U.S. I look at my photograph of the
Bullet every morning to remind myself I actually have one coming....If
it does'nt get here soon I'm gonna have to ask my neighbor if I can take
his bomber 25 yr. old Honda trail 90 out for a spin to pacify my anxiety.....

Message: Forgive me if this sounds stupid, but what is the availability
of the model on your homepage? Must one purchase a Classic model and customize
it (with tan solo saddle, "Royal" decal, etc.) or is this a
special package designation? What would the MSRP be in either case?
The model
in our advertisements is a green Classic ES model (MSRP of $4195).
It is adorned with about $300 worth of accessories including the seat.
The
accessories are either dealer or owner installed.

Topic: For the first time rider
Message: I got my motorcycle license just so I could buy and ride
an Enfield and I am very happy. I do have some advice for the new rider
who is drooling over the picture of the Enfield he has on order. The first
bit of advice is to believe what the owner's manual says about shifting.
I was doing it too quickly and finding myself in "false neutral."
Do it one gear at a time (I actually take my foot off between shifts to
insure I'm not rushing it) and keep pulling gently as things move out
of the way and the transmission gets happy with the new gear. False neutral
can be scary in traffic but you will never have the problem if you are
deliberate, firm but gentle. The second is to understand that the Enfield
(at least mine) improves as it is broken in. Everything gets easier and
works (and sounds) better as the miles go up. I had read this but I didn't
believe it until I experienced it. Best of luck and safe riding. David

will

Topic: shipping from India
Message: I am interested in having an Enfield Bullet shipped over
from Madras, India. Is there a good source of information about import
duty and regulations?
If you are
from the US the best source of information is the US Customs
service. You shold also look at past posts on this subject on this message
board. to make a long story short for all ppracticval purposes you cannot
legally import an Enfield privately form India. The reasons have to do
with
the EPA and DOT.

Topic: My RE 1950 Cycle
Message: I bought it new and equipped it with leg bars and black leather
saddle bags and it was a Dandy. The 125 cc. engine just "hummed"
everywhere I went. I rode it to college for 2 years (summer and winter)
in Maryland. I will never forget the "rubber band" front end
which was really quite comfortable and comments from the new Indian owners
with the first telescopic forks. The rubber did trend to dry rot and fatigue.
In all I rodew it for 56000 miles and this included trips to the Great
Smoky Mtns. The finger lakes of NY state and all through the mtns of Virginia.
O how I like my little 125 and especially the economy. . A tube of oil
and a lioter of gas and I was set for the week. Just thought I would share
some of this to anyone who is interested and who shared ownership of this
fine little piece of machinery
