Topic: Enfield in California
Message: Have just completed the transfer paperwork and I now
have a California registered Enfield. They REQUIRED the bike have 7500
miles on it to consider it used. The VIN is not on the DMV database so
they wanted to send me to the CHP for VIN verification. But a call to
a CHP aquiantance told me otherwise and they made a call to the DMV manager.
With a proper title and reg docs, the DMV should have no problems. Cost
me $136. Future additions will be a high compression piston and a sidecar.
I am having one custom built to look like the Swallow sidecars of the
'20s (predecessor of Jaguar). I love this bike. To those asking about
performance, I find the bike has a comfort range in the 50-60mph zone.
Above that I feel like I'm holding on for dear life and not enjoying as
much. Does the Bullet have less trail in the steering than common on other
bikes?e

Message: Is it possible to get the Royal Enfield with the original
brake and shifter congfiguration, i.e. 5the shifter on the right side
to preserve the "one down and three up" shift pattern.
We offer a
very popular conversion kit to convert from the US mandated left hand
shift to the right hand shift, one up etc pattern that you are talking
about. You can contact us at Classic Motorworks 800-201-7472 for more
information

Topic: Back from Winterization
Message: Hello,
My dad and I are restoring his 1975 Commando 850 that has been winterized
since 1984 or so. He read somewhere that there was something that needed
to be done with the lifters (adjustment?) before cranking the engine over
when it's been sitting for a while. Any information on this or any other
things we should look at would be greatly appreciated!!

be happy. what is a biker to do?
If you like the boyfriend
you're in good shape as three's company, but otherwise the only solution
I know of is the purchase of a brand new Royal Enfield ES model with a
sidecar. Then you and the kids can ride off into the sunset

Topic: OEM Chain
Message:
My 1995 Enfield does not have a master link with retaining clip on the
chain. The Workbook shows such a retaining clip, but my chain is not that
way.How do I remove the chain without using a chain buster? Does anyone
know of a good source of a nickel version of this chain? Also, if I were
to purchase the OEM chain, does it come with a master link assembly??Any
information is appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott
I have never
seen a drive chain without a master link, but anything is possible. A
new chain has to be ordered with the link. The links are also available
at any hardware store. It is a 530 industrial chain

Topic: enquiry
Message: Dear Sir
I am a degree final year(mechanical) student from punjab. I have got a
new bullet model-AVL in 2001 nov.
It happened that there was some noise from engine and i enquired from
agency nearby. When they have opened the rocker covering i have seen that
in the back rocker the lubricating oil was coming out very less. When
i asked them they have told me that in this new model it is just like
that.
But i can't understand that why it is so that in the front rocker the
lubrication is more and in rear it is less. Please try to sort out my
this problem.
Thanks

Topic: Cruising speed Question
Message: I would like to make the bike Cruise in comfortably
in the 70-80 range. Any suggestions.
We sell many
speed kits. The 535 conversion, a set of hot cams, a bigger carb, a performance
exhaust system and a larger countershft sprocket should do it.

Message: My brother Bill and I have a Royal Enfield bike that
we found in a ladies basement in Rockford IL. about 10 years ago..The
title indicates it as a 1947 model..Its painted a pea green color but
I'm thinking not original because it doesn't have the decal on the gas
tank..Its pin striped in gold..Its a one cylinder engine and is not running
but the engine is free and not stuck so it may be able to be operated..Any
information would be great as to parts manuals ect...Thanks Bob Mulhall
