: diesel enfields
Message: I am interested in finding a diesel enfield but live in Colorado and there is no sight of one. Any info on those or conversion of a gasoline to diesel would be most helpful, thank you.

Topic: Bullet Humor
Message: I was reading various messages submitted by bullet owners when I came upon (Flat Tire Survival), July 2003. It is well written and will afford a smile and a moment or two of laughter as you discover what this bullet owner experienced fixing his bike on the road. If he isn't a professional writer, he should be! ! ! !

Topic: New Bullet 65
Message: I just bought mine and can't wait to start the run in process. I'm curious about all the interest in how fast the bullet will go. 55 to 65 is ok for this type machine. Those who crave more speed on 2 wheels appear to me to be "a tad short of a load". Probably never went down on the pavement, etc. This is the type of bike to cruise hill and dale on secondary roads enjoying the smell of new mown hay etc. I agree with your recommendations about interstate highway travel. If a boring 70 to 80 mph ride on divided highway is their thing, don't buy one of these little "one lungers"

Topic: Carburetor
Message: What are the factory recommendations for a main jet size and needle position if you change to a K&N filter? Thanks
email: timberwolf_farley@yahoo.com

There is not a single answer for this question. It depends upon many things such as where you live altitude wise, what other modifications have been done to the bike etc. The correct way to do this job is to install a jet and then run the bike on the road. Cut off the ignition and come to a stop and check your spark plugs color. As far as a range goes, I would suggest that somewhere between a 155 - 125 main jet should be abut correct.

Topic: New rider wannabe
Message: Most of my experience is with Japanese and italian bikes and I haven't riden in about 20 years up until this summer. i bought a small motorized bike that i've been riding (about 40 mph top speed) and borrowed a friends honda 750 for a few weeks just to see if I was still interested (of course I was). I came across the enfield on ebay and really like the style so I did the search thing and found this site. I'm mostly interested in long distance riding (plus back and forth to work of course) and wonder how they hold up and how much tightening and wrenching they usually require. I live in indiana so this is mainly summer time transportation (I only put about 50 miles on my car this summer (almost 2000 miles on the poor little motorized bike). So I will ride exclusively during those months. I'd be purchasing the Classic 500cc Bullet ES (new) with single saddle.

Message: just curious, what kinda of top speeds to these fine looking things get?

The Royal Enfield Bullet will go 70-75mph, BUT that is wide open. It is meant to cruise at 55-60

Message: We are thinking about getting a motorcycle & like the looks of the R.E.  We are looking for something that's as inexpensive to maintain and as reliable as our old VW's.  Neither one of us has the time or mechanical ability to do repairs, so we also want something that we can get repaired without too much difficulty across the southwestern US.  What do folks recommend?
