NAPA makes one. Also you can try some high temperature silicone and a cooling ring.

Topic: 5 speed trans
Message: hello, I read in the newsletter that the 2005 bullet will have the 5 speed transmission, my question is would you be able to buy a 5 speed trans and install it in a 2001 or 2002 bullet
email: tomthick@msn.com
It is all but impossible to install the new 5-speed in an older 4-speed bike. The new 5-speeds uses a different engine crankcase which would require replacement in addition to the transmission

Topic: 535 kit
Message: Hello, What is the compression ratio with the 535 kit? Are there alloy 535 barrels available? Blueprinted? I wish to pull 18 tooth countershaft with 2003 500 Bullet. Love my bike! Thanks to Guy @ Sun Valley Service Center
email: steamengine29@aol.com
I believe that stock 535 piston raises the compression ratio about one point to 7.5:1
Alloy 535 Barrels are indeed available and are a good modification. They really dissipate the heat! yes we can have them Blueprinted. With a 535 modification an 18 tooth sprocket is a good choice

Topic: Noisy Forks
Message: I ride an old (1992) Royal Enfield 350 imported when new into Mexico. This is THE country for Enfields with lots of empty, winding roads through the mountains and pretty towns to visit.
My town (Tequisquiapan) has lots of cobbled roads and the front forks of the bike have started making a loud metallic clunking on the rebound. I have dismantled the forks at least six times, trying all kinds of ideas including fitting a rubber buffer above the top valve nut. All in vain. Am I doomed to living with noisy forks or do one of you have a technical solution? Yes, there is sufficient oil in the forks.

Message: I am considering purchasing a 1998 Bullet 500 for $1500. It is in good shape and has 2970 miles on it. Is this a good buy? I don't have any experience with Enfields but I do like this bike. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Topic: Front End Shimmy
Message: I would like to know why my 2003 Bullet has a shimmy in the front end. Checked spokes and they seem ok. The dealer said the tire might have lost its bead (unlikely). It usually happens at 35mph and not at other speeds. Help.

Try balancing the tire, also make sure that the front tire is "round"

You should see at least 13-14 volts at 2,000rpms at the battery

Topic: imports
Message: Hi....
I was in India for over a year and purchased a 2003 Royal Enfield 350cc Machismo. I love it.... loved it so much I had it shipped back to the U.S. Unfortunately, I did not do the research on importing new bikes into the country. I thought it would be fine. The customs officials are having a problem with the bike not having EPA and DOT stickers on the bike frame!! They said if it did not have appropriate documentation, such as the stickers or a letter from a U.S. representative the bike would have to be abondoned. I understand that you can make some modifications to the bike in order to make it EPA compliant, but who do I go to? I live in Seattle, Washington..... can anyone help me or give me any suggestions!!??
email: rudy@rlfoto.com
Unfortunately there is nothing that you can do. In order to do the correct modifications from the standpoint of the US government, the cost is greater than the cost of the bike itself. This is not only due to the large number of parts which would be needed, but mostly due to the fees charged by government authorized modification companies. The US importer cannot write any sort of letter since the bike does not meet US standards for safety or Emissions.

Message: I am thinking of getting a deluxe 500 for some time now. I have owed a number of bikes since I began riding 30 years back at the tender age of 10. I really like a lot about this bike. I am curious about the Message Boards true feelings on these bikes. QC, Power, resale, fit, finish etc. I see it as more a conversion piece with folks on the road but lttle more, or am I reading this wrong?? If there is anyone in New Mexico(or anywhere in the US) that has one of these interesting pieces of history in a classic or delux 500cc model that is either fond of it or hates it & would like to get rid of it, please email me with your honest ownership opinions.
