Topic : Royal Enfield Family Reunions for 2005 |
| Message:
We are planning at least three Royal Enfield Family Reunions
this year:
- Reno, Nevada area (September 3-5, Labor Day weekend),
- Wisconsin (August 27)
- Missouri (July 22–24 - note the date change from
the past few years)
You owe it to yourself to head for one or more of these get-togethers.
They're top-notch events, and all who've attended have had a great
time! It's an outstanding way to show off your bike, meet other owners,
talk smart, and generally have a good time. We will have more
details and pictures next month

Topic: taking a RE Thunderbird from India to USA
Message: hi,
I have been desperately searching for some info on this topic. I have a RE Thunderbird (1.5 years old). I would be moving to University of Minnesota-Twin Cities as a graduate student this fall. I don't want to part with my bike and wanted to take her with me. I would appreciate if kevin or anybody could give me some tips on shipping it to USA from India, any US customs trouble(its a used bike), the cost involved, any paper work I need in MN and the cost involved. And finally is it all worth? Thunderbird is not available in US but is similar to US classic 350cc with a cruiser look check it at RE website.
Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated because I really really don't want to sell her when I leave.
Thanks,
Anurag

Message: I am looking for assistance in finding out how to locate the year and model of a Royal Enfield that was probably made in the 50's. This bike belonged to my father when he was young and he disassembled it then. It has been kept in crates in my grandmothers garage. My dad passed away 2 years ago and I would love to have it restored. The problem is I don't know where to start....any suggestions? The complete bike is there, frame, motor, gas tank, handle bars, crates and crates of small parts, etc....

Topic: enfield sidecar
Message: Hi
I currently ride a bmw r100rt, also have an old Mottoguzzi 1967 V7. The V7 is in rough shape, have been thinking about attaching a sidecar to it (have a wife and a little one that i want to ride with)...have been advised that in the end will cost me more money then just buying something new. Now the ??? for all you enfield pros. Will a newish (post 2000) Enfield with a sidecar pull the family? wife is small, child is only 5. Are they reasonably reliable? I really know little about them, like the way they look with a hack, guess they are more reliable than a DNEPR or Ural, but how much more reliable???? Do most of my own work and don't mind maintainance but want to ride more than fix...
thanks

Message: I am seriously considering buying a Enfield Bullet, but have not found anyone who owns one, just websites saying how great it is. If I get one, will I have to go to a tech school to keep it on the road? I'm much better at destroying things than fixing them (Esp. UNintentionally) I'm tired of HD riders telling me how many times they've been to the shop. Any replies to this?

Topic: clubs/rides
Message: Hi I am an American from New Mexico living in India for 6 yrs now and riding a bullet ever since.
If you have any Qs about riding a Enfield in India then please just email.
We have started a club here named "BULLET WALLAS".
Walla means the person who is doing(taxi walla, cooking walla, wall mart walla) and since the bike is built in india we gave it a Walla.
if you are interested in joining and exspanding to your city please ask.
We here in india have club houses in the himmalayas, rajistan desart and a few other places in India.
Also we are in Oz, Nepal, England, Italy, Isreal, Iceland and more so its a big family of bullet riders.
We except all riders to visit and bullet riders stay free (pay for your food and drink) we here on the mountain roads love the bike.
Please get in touch if you need any help here or ask about if the bike holds up.
Anybody coming to India please look us up.

Topic: Can't switch gears
Message: I recently purchased a 94' Enfield 500 Bullet w/ 1500km's on it. The problem is this, it will switch into 1st and 2nd fine, but will not switch into 3rd or 4th using the left side peddle. I can get there with the "neutral finder" but don't want to use that to switch gears. I took it to a mechanic, he adjusted the clutch, and adjusted and improved the linkage by replacing the worn factory plastic bushings and washer setup, with a custom fabricated bronze bushing and washer in one. this work tightened everything up, but when I took it out on the rode, nada, still wouldnt switch up into 3rd, or 4th. He will continue to investigate the problem. Anyone have any similar experiences? Advice? Thanks, Joergen
email: joergen@shaw.ca
Reply: The problem is in the shift ratchet adjustment plate. This is a simple adjustment that is located inside the outer transmission cover. It is covered pretty well in the Snidal manual

Topic: Exhaust 500 bullet
Message: I have a 2001 500cc Bullet, it has 1500 miles on it and has the stock muffler. I like the look of this pipe but i want more sound. Can the baffle be removed? Can the baffle be drilled out some? Would the timing have to be adjusted if this was done? THANKS.
email: Rodney.mccallie@hsvcity.com
Reply: With a long enough drill bit, the baffles can be drilled out. We have also heard tell of a long piece of re-bar being used to accomplish the same. We have no idea is doing this is a good thing. Your best bet is to get an aftermarket performance exhaust system which can be seen here. We also have a great value in a complete Performance system which is on-sale in April. It can be seen here. After adding an enhanced exhaust you will need to re-jet the carburetor, but the timing will probably be OK.
