Topic : Royal Enfield Family Reunions for 2005 |
| Message:
We are planning at least three Royal Enfield Family Reunions
this year:
- Reno, Nevada area (September 3-5, Labor Day weekend),
- Wisconsin (August 27)
- Missouri (July 22–24 - note the date change from
the past few years)
You owe it to yourself to head for one or more of these get-togethers.
They're top-notch events, and all who've attended have had a great
time! It's an outstanding way to show off your bike, meet other owners,
talk smart, and generally have a good time. We will have more
details and pictures next month

Topic: 1946 Model G
Message: Hello. I am rebuilding a 1946 Model G and have a few questions. Will a MO1L Magdyno with E3LM dynamo from any bike fit my RE or are they bike specific? Are some Bullet parts from the 1946 era the same as those used on the Model G?. Cheers Anton

Topic: India to UK Enfield ride
Message: Hi, myself and my 3 other co-students from London Business School are planning to ride from New-Delhi to London in Summer 2006.
Any information/lead/help with regards to people who have done such a trip would be great. I know 6 people who have done it (Nick, Chris Procter, Dave & Helen Kelly, Alim Khan, Mark Lewis) but have been unable to trace any of them till now.
Many Thanks

Topic: Traffic signals
Message: The left turn signals work fine, but the turn indicator on the speedometer doesn't light up. The right turn signals don't work, but the indicator lights up (not blinking, though)
Where should I start looking for the problem? I've gone through some of the more obvious wiring to check for loose connections. After that I'm not sure what to do.
email: yaakov40@hotmail.com
- Check the bulb on the left hand signal in the speedometer
- Check for a burned out bulb in the right hand side turn signals them selves as this will cause them not to blink
- Check the ground connections. There are several of them behind the battery.

I am currently in US and I had a passion for Bullet since I was a kid. My dad owns a Black Bullet 350 in India and I like to buy the exact same model in US. I would like more information on how to buy a Bullet in US, delears list in US, and I would also like to know if they will start Bullet 350 Import in US ..And is it possible for me to bring my dad's bullet 350 from India? What are the formalities I had to go through(customs, shipping, etc)??It it worth it?

Topic: Performance Carburetor
Message: I have been testing an Amal Mark II carburetor on my bike for a little while now and find it to be an excellent performer. I put a K&N filter and an aftermarket muffler on it which really increased the power and responsiveness significantly. This carb is a 38mm unit and I am testing a 36mm version next to compare the performance of the two. The difference between a stock bike and this modification is night and day. I would highly reccommend this to anyone, and if you have questions about the specifics of what I did just fire off an email. Ride well.

Topic: bullet riders
Message: I am about to purchase a 2000 Bullet 500, used and with only a couple thousand miles. I want to take really good care from the start. What should I tune, fix, replace, if anything, right off the bat...I know of no problems yet, and would love to keep it that way. Also, does anyone know a good mechanic in Minnesota for Bullets/Enfields
email: frankiep11@yahoo.com
The best Royal Enfield mechanic in the US if not the world, lives in Minnesota. His name is George Helms and has a lifetime of experience building, selling, racing and modifying the Royal Enfield. He has forgotten more than I will ever know. He is a very nice man, reasonable in price and terribly interesting.

Topic: Buying Soon...
Message: I've always wanted a bike. Specifically a "Brit Bike". Recently, I've fallen in love with Royal Enfield. As a soon to be first-time bike owner, I'm a little intimidated. Can I own a Royal Enfield as a first bike? Should I buy new/used? ANY guidance would be much appreciated.

Topic: Idles but cannot increase power
Message: A recently aquired Enfield 500 will start and idle, although from the exhaust it looks and smells like it's running on full choke, I have changed the carburettor for an exact match, but still the same problem.
As soon as I open the throttle even a fraction, it cuts out, sometimes blowing back through the carb.
Any ideas will be most welcome

Message: I am 5 feet 3 inches and am interested in buying an enfield. I like the classic look in the enfield machismo. Can this be modified to make it lower ..so that i can ride it comfortably.
Our Parts Manager Terri is 5 foot even. She has lowered her bike so that it works quite well for her. Most of it is done with a solo seat and smaller seat springs

Topic: Diesel
Message: Last year I converted a Enfield Bullet 500 to a diesel motor cycle with a 750cc yanmar V-twin engine. Informatin at:
http://www.dieselkrad.info/ (German)
Look for "YANFIELD". Also pictures of it are shown.
I would consider it as perfect. It has the same top speed as the 500, but speeds up from standing much better. Also the feeling to ride it is much similar to the 500 Bullet.
First of all I had to convert the motor (2V78) to an upright running motor. It was originally built for lawn mowers with a vertical camshaft. It was a bit of fiddeling about until I had the motor fixed in the frame. But it was worth it, and every kilometer is pure fun to ride it. The consumption ranges from 2 to 2.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
If more informatin is required, please ask.
