Topic: Timing
Message: I have fitted a new Goldstar exhaust to my 500 Bullet Classic and I'm getting what I think
maybe excessive blue heat stain at the hot end of the pipe . Is it possible I am running a little to far advanced or
maybe the carburettor main jet is causing an over rich mixture , there is no smoke , the bike idles nicely . Maybe the
blue heat mark is normal !? any ideas ? Steve Heaney Fort Lauderdale .

Message: After some time of talking with some of the staff. I just wanted everyone to know that these
guys, and gals, are the best. They're genuine, honest and most of all just plain good overall eggs. My many thanks to
them in helping me purchase my 2005 Royal Enfiled Deluxe. Keep up the "GREAT" work and long live bullets.

Topic: old fashion solo seat
Message: with the use of the solo seat how much lower does this allow. standard seat is at 30".
what is it with the old fashion solo seat? do you need the lowering kit?
email: jdmccartht@sochs.com
If you intend to lower the seat you will
need the lowering kit as the Old Fashioned solo is about the same height as the stock seat.

Topic: Bullet life expectancy
Message: I am considering purchasing an Enfield. This would be a first bike for me. I am leaning toward
the Bullet, because of the reasonable price, simplicity, and because it is not a Harley. I am well aware that these
bikes are not Hondas either. I am a mechanic by trade, I currently own (and regularly use) a 1961 pickup truck and a
1953 farm tractor. I am a hands on kind of guy. My question is how many miles do these things get before they need major
work (engine, trans)? Are these bikes known for a long and healthy life? I am not talking about tinkering and adjusting.

Topic: ridged frame
Message: Maybe I've seen too many episodes of American Chopper, and Monster Garage, but I keep looking
at my Bullet, and thinking what a cool chopper it could be, so I'd like to find an early original RE ridged frame. A
model J, or G, or whatever. Of course it needs to be in usable condition (not bent, or severely rusted). Anyone have
one of these hanging from the rafters in your garage?
Thanks,
Crispy

Topic: clutch woes
Message: I have just purchaced a bullet 500 and found out the clutch was fried. When I took it apart
I found that the clutch was assembled wrong somewhere. 2 plates were together and 2 fibers were together. I purchased
a new clutch and installed it. It still slipped. while trying to figure it out I noticed the last plate did not sit
on the inner hub well at all. After many inpections and attemps, the only way I could get the clutch to bite was to
install the first dished plate behind the snap ring that holds the basket on!! This does not look anything like the
photo in the manual. Is this right or is there some other trick to getting that last plate to sit on the center hub?????
Thanks for any advice-Sean S.

Topic: Ignition advance unit
Message: Do these parts (see topic) ever make noise? It seems like I am hearing it rattle right around
the CB points plate when accelerating. Also noticing that rolling on the throttle, really quickly produces a "cough" and
sometimes (with timing retarded) a backfire through the carb. Is this common? Think I may have remedied by advancing
spark by a millimeter or less. I was a little worried that the sound I was hearing from the auto advance weights was
pinging, but I retarded the timing to the point of barely running and still here when accelerating quickly and at load
(the time when it should be in effect.) Do these parts(cam and such) ever need tightening?

Topic: Trials/scrambler kit
Message: I am intending to buy a stock Royal Enfield and convert it to a trials bike with the accessories
provided . I would like a little input regarding which model to buy as stock . I think the latest 650 ES models as attractive
as they are may lack the low end torque and I may be better with an older 500 . I would like the gear shift on the left.
any input would be much appreciated at this stage . Steve Heaney Fort Lauderdale Florida
