Topic: vintage racing model
Message: on this site it says that the 4 speed/kickstart
only model will still be produced in limited quantities. a dealer i spoke
to told me that that is not true. what are the facts?
email: olafglad@hotmail.com
Reply: Your
dealer is correct. The 5 speed is such a good transmission that the
factory has decided to discontinue the production of left hand shift
5-speeds

Topic: to lead or not ...
Message: I have been using the old "Marvel Mystery
Oil" in my new 2005 Bullet, an ounce or two in a full tank of gas.
An old Volkswagen mechanic years ago told me it was great for extending
valve life on air cooled engines. When I bought it someone said that it
was just lead. Is that true, and is it worth using?
email: danie1@everestkc.net
Reply: Marvel
Mystery Oil is not a lead or lead substitute, it is a petroleum distillate.
It has been used for years and years. It was commonly touted as "top-end"
oil to be put in fuel for cars which didn't oil the top end that well.
It is also sometimes recommended to help remove gum etc. from an engine
and free up hydraulic lifters. Like all additives its claims are nebulous
at best. We don't think a little bit will hurt, and we sure do love
the look of the very cool that it comes with in our workshop. ( We haven't
opened it, but it sure does look good)

Topic: Royal Enfield for CA
Message: I'm thinking of shipping a Royal Enfield to
CA from India..Has anyone done it before and any challenges with registeration,
emission etc ?
email: mtelang@yahoo.com
Reply: There
is no way for a private individual to import a Royal Enfield from India
to the US. The models which are imported into the US are specifically
manufactured for the US market. Bikes available in India are NOT. We
get lots of calls from people who do not bother to check with US Customs
before they try this and the bikes ends up being impounded and then
sent either back or to the crusher. Don't be disappointed, regardless
of what a dealer in India may tell you it is not legal. The issues revelove
around the EPA, DOT and NHSTA

Message: I am excited to buy one as soon as possible.
I have just one question that is holding me back... Because of its light
weight, are these babies legally allowed on the freeway?

Royal Enfield is freeway legal. In stock form they will travel at 70-75mph,
but are meant to cruise at 55-60mph.

Message: I see the 2006 bikes do not need the lead additive
but I purchased a 2005 last year and I am wondering if I should be doing

not worry about a lead additive for any Royal Enfield purchased after
1998. You are probably OK with US models before that but we did not
import those and cannot be sure

Topic: Getting The Lead out.
Message: I am looking to purchase a new R.E. this Spring.
Myself being old school, I can remember having a early 70’s Harley
Shovelhead. When leaded fuels disappeared in the late 70’s a lot
of us had problems with the valve guides wearing (or even getting a stuck
valve) prematurely due to the lack of upper cylinder lubricant (lead).
The power plant of the R.I. seems to be unchanged over the many years
of production.?.? Would you recommend a lead additive to the gas to compensate
for the lack of upper cylinder lubricant in today’s fuels? Thanks,
Tony
email: maganddyno@btopenworld.com
Reply: There
is not need to add a lead substitute to a New Royal Enfield as it uses
modern lead free valve seats and modern Stellite coated exhaust valves.

Topic: Rotal Enfield Bullet Military 500cc
Message: I am buying a new Bullet military and I would
like to hear from other riders what ,if any, problems they might have
encountered in their onership of the machine and what they did to resolve
those problems. How often the same problems recurred and generally what
to expect. I expect to be a new member of the Enfield community quite
shortly, (I used to ride a Matchless 500cc single and I loved that old
tractor). When I saw the Enfield advertised on a website I immediately
fell in love. When it comes to machines I am a hopeless romantic.
