Topic: Any recent 500 Bullets or Electras in the Denver area?
Message: I seriously consider buying a RE and I would love to take a closer look
at a recent 500 Bullet or Electra, but the nearest dealership is more than 250
miles away in Grand Junction, CO.

Is there any Bullet/Electra owner close to Denver who would let me sit on his or
her bike? While I am doing this you can look at my 1200 GS ;)!

Regards from the Front Range,
Armin

Topic: RELIABILITY
Message:I've been seriously considering a 500cc bullet with a sidecar. "Made in India" scares me a little. Can anyone out there put my mind at ease?

The best thing to do is to go to a showroom and see one for yourself. You will be surprised at the fit and finish. You must remember that every major auto manufacturer in the world is making things in India and it is a modern power in this area. Japan used to have a poor quality image and look what happened there. India is on the same track.

Topic: exhaust pipes
Message: Has anyone had problems with the exhaust pipe leaking at the head? It seams like there should be a better way to connect the pipe, any suggestions on a repair?

It is not at all uncommon to find some exhaust seepage at the press fit junction of the head and the cylinder head. It is not the least bit harmful, but can be unsightly. There are a couple of things that can be helpful. The first is to use an exhaust paste between the head and the exhaust pipe such as that found here:
http://www.royalenfieldusa.com/exhaust-assembly-paste-p-6540.html
it is particularly helpful with the addtion of an exhaust cooling ring such as the one found here http://www.royalenfieldusa.com/finned-exhaust-clamp-steel-alloy-p-330.html

Topic: Compresssion release valve
Message:Has anyone ever had their compression release valve leak oil? If so how
did you fix it? Di you replace it all together or do I just need to tighten it?
I have a pre 99 bullet 500
email: charles.andrew.perry@us.army.mil

You should probably just tighten it up.

Topic: valve tappet guide removal
Message: I have the Electra X. I love this bike.
Can I get the valve tappets out by just removing the tappet guides and
"fiddling" the tappets past the cam pinions, or do I really have to take the
pinions out too ? Thanks.
