That settles it. I couldn’t decide between the colors. Now I am sure. I want the black C5! But, hey: they took the mirrors off? In that case, I will need a set of the optional eyes installed in the back of my head.

That article is several years old. The author Art Friedman had his facts screwed up at the time and published them anyway. Even when he knew they were wrong he left it in their forum. So much for journalistic ethics. In a word it is old and it never was accurate. REM is stronger than ever.

I recently saw a news item (Art Friedman, Motorcycle Cruiser) that Eicher Motors plans to sell Royal Enfield. Art suggested that if no buyer is found, RE may close. Do you know any more? Is it time to panic yet?

See, if that was me, I would have figured “Oh, sure, I give them my clothes so in the morning, I will be naked.” Great tale. I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Sicily, which I thought was a long way to go but, no comparison. The worst airport I encountered was JFK in New York. Noisy, dirty, confusing, jammed, no where to sit, unexplained delays. Customs was surprisingly ad hoc, considering security concerns — you’d think we’d have worked this out by now. But lots of shouting, pointing, no signage; they literally beat people up verbally and these were the U.S. citizens! I hope visitors were treated better. Have a good flight back. George was truly an inspiration to me. It started in 1957,George was to us (Ted,Jerry,Buzz,&me),at first, just an old guy with a m/s shop.I learned WHAT a guy! And what a m/s shop??? He befriended me(maybe felt sorry for me) I had a1948 500 R.E. George would let me go through his trash to see if there was anything there to help me keep that beast alive. He sold me my first 500 twin then my first 700 twin. During our H.S.years at Proviso and lots of time at Santa Fe, I found out how cool George really was.And , WE KNEW COOL ! My memories of George (Maywood Mustangs & Silver Wheels M/C”s)bring back lots of very funny and very good times! Now, tears to my ( now old) eyes to hear about him passing away . I feel blessed to have been able to talk to him within the last 6 months. My heart felt condolences goes out to his family and close friends. Also, to George’s extended R. E . current family and those yet to come! p.s. thanks for keeping me in the loop Buzz, give Pixie a kiss for me. MOLDY now, MOE.

I live in Western Pennsylvania, and while there are those here that talk about a “Riding Season”, I find all year is the riding season. Winter just requires wearing properly insulated clothing, and avoiding riding (if one doesn’t need to) on those days when the roads are icy. Other than that, the bike goes when it would go any other time. 20° outside? The ol’ Bullet starts on the second kick just about always!
