Red Royal Enfield C5 with UCE engine

Red Royal Enfield C5 with UCE engine

James Parchman wrote a great article about the Royal Enfield company and our new products for the New York Times . Here is the online version of the article. James is a freelance writer/photographer who contacted us while he was in Pakistan doing another article. he went to the factory in Chennai and came back with this great article.  As someone who has taken a lot of photos around the factory over the years I am in awe of his photographic abilities as well. Guess this is what the phrase “trained professional” is all about.  James did a great job and we certainly appreciate it. We are told that he has an upcoming piece in Rider magazine about the C5 as well.

One Hot Royal Enfield

Random Notes

I see a lot of modified Royal Enfields all over the world, but this one is by a long shot the coolest one I have EVER seen. Aniket Vardhan’s  stunning project is a V-Twin Royal Enfield engine in a Royal Enfield frame. He married two 350cc Royal Enfield top ends in the neatest, cleanest project I have ever seen. There is another V-Twin based on a similar concept from Australia (The Carberry V-Twin) which has been around for a long time.  The Carberry however uses a non Royal Enfield custom frame.

I cannot praise Anjit enough for his work with this project. The size and sophistication of this project is a bit overwhelming. Should he ever want to produce this engine… I will let Anjit tell his story in his own words.

What’s in an Inder Trailer?

Random Notes

We have sold quite a few of  the Inder trailers. So far all very happy customers. The most common question we get is “how much does it hold?”.

The answer even surprised us…

How much stuff is this?

How much stuff is this...?

Will all of this go into the Inder Trailer?

...can you believe it?!

Spring Maintenance Tips (or Ignore me now and ride later… much later)

Tech Tips

I can tell from the Royal Enfield chat boards that I participate in that spring has sprung for many of you and it is time to ride.

Time to talk about Spring maintenance. You are one of two kinds of people, those that washed and waxed your bike, lubed everything, put new oil in it, used fuel stabilizer and put your battery on a Batter Tender, covered your bike, put it away in a nice, dry and maybe even warm place… or you’re one who just plain put it away, rode hard until the last hours and then put it up wet (so to speak). The first group knows the drill and are probably already out riding as we speak enjoying the attention that only the Royal Enfield brings. I can tell from the chat boards the rest of you are scratching your head and wondering what happened over the winter… “but it was fine when I put it away” is a commonly-heard refrain. For this group I will try to get you back on the right track with some Spring maintenance and tune-up advice.

Famous People Who Ride Royal Enfields

In the News

Over the years any number of famous people have become Royal Enfield customers. The first picture is Brad Pitt riding a Royal Enfield (we swear it is him), the second is Julio Iglesias Jr. and friend riding in Miami. Billy Joel owns several Royal Enfield including two on his yacht. He uses one as a daily driver as well.

Royal Enfield Spring Rally

Announcements, Events

We’ve set the dates for our annual Minnesota Get-Together. Join us at the Eagle Cliff Campground in Lanesboro MN on the weekend of June 19-20. Lanesboro is in a particularly scenic part of Southeastern Minnesota.

Besides great riding it is in the heart of Amish country. We had a great time last year at this laid back event. Give Jane a call at 1-800-201-7472 for more information or to make a reservation.

Royal Enfield in “Friday the Thirteenth”?

Random Notes
Friday the Thirteenth

Friday the Thirteenth

Mike Depalo of UK Motorsports (our dealer in Long Island) reports that there was at least one Royal Enfield used in the making of the new Friday the Thirteenth movie.

UPDATE: We found great photographic confirmation posted earlier on the SF Universe blog. The bike is a modified Hollywood prop bike and appears without distinctive markings, but the classic headlamp, big single, gearbox, fenders, and tail light give it away.

Scooter Bob reviews the UCE

Random Notes

Greg Stewart known to most as “Scooter Bob” has joined our staff. He was one of our very good dealers and is known as perhaps the foremost expert on Chian Jiang motorcycles in the country.

We have the opportunity to have one of the new Unit Construction G-5 models reviewed in another national magazine. The problem is that we have two beat up test mules and one brand new fresh from the factory show unit. Normally it would be easy to just put in a new battery some oil and ship the bike, but it would be foolish to send a bike to a prestigious magazine untested. Of course it has been about 100 degrees below zero and the streets are full of ice up here. Since ScooterBob is the “new guy” it was only fitting to ask him to take on this challenge. To my surprise and delight he took on the challenge. Here is his first “ride report” on the new bike:

Did I mention that I’m nearly in love with the new UCE bike despite WANTING to find bad stuff on it? This isn’t good for the long-term storage issues at the ScooterBob Garage Facility! Hahaha!
