New Enfield Article
« on: February 09, 2008, 10:46:26 PM »
There is a great article in this month's Classic Bike Guide (issue 201), one of the several excellent British classic motorcycle mags (how does one smallish country support so many classic bike magazines?).

It's about a British woman who bought a Bullet 500 in India and proceeded to spend the next 7 years driving it around the world.

This smallish country (Hmmm) manages to support all the Classic bike mags as way back when we really were the producer of the majority of the worlds motorcycles so have that heritage of lots of producers of fine mororcycles and a few cr*p ones too.  ;D

I'm 54 years old and well remember when the British motorcycle pretty much ruled the industry. I live in the USA but British bikes were very dominant here. When I was in high school I rode my 1965 (I think?) BSA 500 twin everwhere. In fact not only did I not have a car, I didn't car about cars at all-everything was about motorcycles to me. One of my regrets was that I didn't buy a brand new 1979 Triumph Bonneville when they were still available.

I bought my Enfield from my dad a couple of years ago. He bought it because it reminded him of the BSA Goldstar he rode in college in the early '60's.

I used to go to a motorcycle shop in the late 70's and sit on the Bonneville too, I tried to get it together but it never happened.  Now I have my Bullet and could not be happier.
