Hey D the D, can we get some info/pics of that Sportster?

Nothing to see yet, it's a dirty, rusty mess.  But it is all original so if you need pics of what goes where I can get them.  Current owner is my brother, so I have access to it.  I posted a Youtube Vid of it running.

RGT,
It's looking more and more like work than fun.
I'll check out the XL forum.  Thanks for telling me.

Since I sold my Gb500 a couple of weeks ago to a fellow Euro Bike Breakfast Club member, he rode it to today's breakfast! It's looking very good! And running quite nicely. I didn't have my camera with me, so no pics. He took it on the club ride through the Avocado fields and it worked very well for him. I'm glad it found such a good home.
As for me and the ride today, it was cold and cloudy getting down to the restaurant, and I had put on a warmer jacket, but it still wasn't quite there. One of these days I'm going to have the right jacket for the weather. It stays one step ahead of me! The problem with the weather is that it will 60o at 6AM and 90o at 10AM. it's hard to get attire that can span both temps when you don't have any place to put a liner or something!
At any rate the ride was great and I got onto a bunch of roads I haven't been on in probably 15 years! It was a nice review! They've repaved a lot of them! It's a great place to ride. Lotsa ups and down and twisties running through the woods on two lane roads. Fortunately light traffic is the usual offering, cops are rare, and there are some beautiful houses down there. If you look off into the woods sometimes you can see illegal eyeballs peering at you from behind the trees! I did over 200 miles today and was home by 1 pm. I hit 5500 miles on the Guzzi today! 4 months old today.

Did a little 150 miler to the Rock Store to meet meet some Guzziisti for lunch. The area was very overcast and as I went over the mountains on Piuma, I was in the clouds and getting a lot of drizzle. Saw the first other V7Racer out in the wild! These things are about as scarce as Bullets! The temps were wonderful. It was a great day!

The CBR250R got an 80 mile ride on the last day of summer, in the sun and dry.  84mpg for the ride and for the first 1500 miles.

Today it is raining.  Welcome, Autumn!

Look at the size of that pumpkin!  The CBR looks great.  I sat on a CB500F last week, and now have seen and sat on all 3 new Honda 500s.  I was leaning towards the R, and the X was super comfortable but the F really impressed me.

And what are you coming to Cantafordia with? The Hondas are nice bikes I looked at them when I bought the Goose. The Goose was just much more of what I was looking for. he Kawasaki 300 really fit me better than the Hondas though.
Gotta go watch the Anerica's Cup races today. NBCSports. These last few days have been great .the Americans are winning and catching the New Zealanders who are sitting on match point for the last 4 days. The Americans have to win 5 races in a row to beat them. The boats are fantastic. 72' Catamarans wit 140 foot mast The "sail' is bigger than a 747 wing! These things will do over 50mph. Fascinating races!
The Goose sits today.

The AVL will be coming with me and hopefully get a massive amount of tlc.  I want to make it a nice, lean and clean street-scrambling machine ideal for tearing up some SoCal back roads.  I've only ever owned temperamental motorcycles except for my DRZ which ran so perfect the thieves couldn't resist.

A Honda 500 sounds pretty boring... but boring might be what I need for a while.  I've read great things about them.  47hp, even torque to red line, abs for $6k.  I'm going to wait and see what new rides come out of the EICMA 2013 show... there's a Ducati Scrambler rumor.  And who knows... that damn Continental just looks so gooooooood.

No character or soul. Japanese bikes don't have any. Very few of them anyway. The GB500 had some, but don't try to compare them with an English thumper, they don't thump!

Just when I've been looking at a Yamaha Bolt.  Probably much closer to a Sportster (talk about soul-less) than an Enfield though.  Haven't done a test ride and may not find a dealer local that will let me.  No, there are not Yamaha events within a day's drive of here.

I'm back. The Americans won the first Cup race by 33 seconds. The second race was postponed because the first race start was delayed about 45 minutes to wait for wind to fill in the course. It is now 8-6. The Americans have to win the next three races to win the Cup.
Ok, some, the Gb500 had some. Probably the best Asian bikes I had were the '76 Yamaha Fazer and the '97 Yamaha ThunderAce. Those two definitely captured my soul! The Yamaha Vision I kept around for a long time and put 75,000 miles on the thing. Probably was just a good fairly reliable beast, but not particularly soul stirring. The SR 500 was a fun thumper, but failed in comparison to the English thumpers I'd owned. Those 20 pound flywheels are the difference. The Japanese stuff is just too revvy. Wrong feel. Yes, they will outperform anything English, but leave the soul behind! The 650 Suzuki is probably the best thumper they make that feels like a thumper! The Japanese thumpers I have owned were the SR250, SR500, TT500, XR250R, and GB500. The English ones were the 250 and 500 Matchless, BSA Goldstar, 500MX, 441 and Indian Velocette. The RE was the last thumper. My real favorites were the Matchlesses
