Raising the Needle on an Amal

Hello,

Can you raise the needle on an Amal (32mm Mk1) 1/2 position by placing a washer under the clip, as you can on other makes?

I've never seen a clip like the 'butterfly' style on the Amals and wonder if it lends itself well to the shim.

If the answer is 'yes', are there special washers tailored for the application or should I scrounge around the workshop for one?
