My G5 Found it's voice!
« on: October 14, 2011, 08:54:07 PM »
I just returned from a 400 mile trip up to the high country and noticed that the factory torpedo muffler has become a baritone.

When cruising it is still pretty quite but when accelerating it definitely has a louder , fuller sound to it.

Tapping the outside doesn't seem to produce any rattles so I don't think anything inside broke loose and looking up the tailpipe doesn't show anything I wouldn't expect to see.

Most of this trip was run at speeds around 58 mph and the bike now has 2324 miles on the odometer.

Have any of you noticed a similar thing on your bike?

You might check the exhaust manifold to make sure everything is nice and tight. Mine did the same thing and it turned out I had lost one of my nuts ;D

I checked it today and everything is tight and there aren't any leaks.

Maturin must be right.  I just hope it doesn't start having any zits on its tank.  :D

Same here lost one nut and second nut was half off. Happened kinda sudden to me. My bike is a real vibrating machine. I have to make frequent pit stops to pee. So get some blue lock tight
