Small Flyscreen
« on: August 13, 2012, 10:30:27 AM »
I was surprised to see a small, somewhat old-fashioned looking windshield in my motorcycle superstore the other day. I donīt like the big shields for various reasons, but this little one is neat.
Itīs made by the spanish company PUIG and I paid 73 € (+Vat, of course). Quality is very well, the clamps and braces are stainless steel. Installing was a little bit like working on a puzzle, as all joints are flexible itīs complicated to mount it exactly in the middle. On the other hand it may be adjusted as you like it, a little more forward or backward, or in a different angle.
In Europe itīs available more or less everywhere, and they even have distributors in the US.

As a windshieled it works surprisingly well, the upper body is protected and less vibrations are transferred to the handlebar. Thatīs nice when itīs windy or when youīre overtaking a truck.
Best regards

That is quite a find Maturin, a perfect match for your Enfield.

Can't find that specific model on their website.  Do you have a model name or part number?

That's a very nice piece. I'm gonna have to look into that one myself.

Its this one: http://www.puig.tv/tuning-bikes/roadster-fixations-on-forks/c171en/f205-r11/
However, mine isnīt clamped onto the fork but to the handlebar. It came with two different sets of clamps, a big one for the fat Harley Bars and a smaller one for all the others. I guess thatīs what they mean one row up with: "Kit roadster fixations on light screws" (http://www.puig.tv/tuning-bikes/kit-roadster-fixations-on-light-screws/c171en/f205-r24/).

Now the trick is to find anyone in the US that stocks it. I haven't had any luck along that line. They stock the Puig superbike stuff, but no flyscreens.

Aha!  I had seen that one, and then spent a half-hour or so looking for the identical one that attached to the bars instead, not thinking they were the same.

Your local motey-bike emporium should be able to order it from Tucker Rocky...

There are several of these on ebay...although with different mounting equipment. I have one but will have to return it since it will take some serious fabrication to mount it. Will keep looking though.

The ones I saw on Ebay aren't Puigs. Rocky doesn't have them, Neither do the other distributors. Even tried Hitchcocks.

Interesting, Bare... Puig claims Tucker Rocky is one of their US distributors.

The three distributors they list do carry Puig, they just don't carry the Roadster flyscreen. Or at least it's not listed. I'll have my dealer give them a call.

Unfortunately the package fee for this size to the US would be ca. 50€ , and probably your bank will charge a few bucks for an international transfer. But if you donīt mind itīll be my pleasure to send you one.
But maybe your dealer is able to get that thing for you  ;)
Best regards

Thank you, Maturin,
I may take you up on that. Right now I have my dealer looking for one.
