Help in Identifying this Engine

Hello All,
I got this engine from a person who claims this to be a 1955 Model, looking at the cylinder head I feel it is an earlier model. This also has a unique oil return pipe (One which takes oil from engine to the head). The cylinder doesn't have the provision to fit the flower nut. I am all the more confused
. Please take a look at the pics and let me know your thoughts.
Regards

Very nice, love the square oil pump covers.
I also like what looks to be a set of flat sided tool boxes sitting next to it. If you or your friend want to part with them PM me.

The frame, rear hub, and headlamp casquette/fork crown are also shown in the first picture.
Looks like you got a lot more than just the engine. I'd call it a project.
Most of the parts you don't have can be purchased from any modern Royal Enfield dealer.

Hi,
That is a 1954 / 55 G2 350 Bullet, I have owned an identical machine for over 30 years [languishing and needing attention, but runs]. The forged swingarm lugs on the frame pin the model years down - this type of frame is quite rare, only being made for one year before the all welded frame came along. I also have a 1955 500 Bullet using the same type of frame, the flat toolboxes are correct Redditch tinware.
Nice find!

The engine looks identical to my '54 although I suspect that mine is actually a late '53 registered as a '54. VIN # on mine is 27786.
