I'm afraid I wouldn't be allowed. Do they have a ride for disheveled delinquents?

Their flyer says attire is formal.  Since that means white-tie (morning dress or a tailcoat depending on time), I can only assume the mixed up person who penned it is not in fact a distinguished gentleman, but merely someone planning on playing dress-up with Goodwill leftovers.

I rode towards London to go.

Decided to fill up so I had sufficient fuel for the day and the throttle locked up!!!

Somehow the cable had frayed sufficiently to completely jam the cable. I tried stripping it out and it wouldn't budge. I had to get recovered and I missed the event.

I'll be doing the TXABCD in Round Rock.  That Sunday is the static show part of the event (rally on Saturday).  Does riding to the show and back count?

This ride was originally planned to take place in Boulder for the Colorado Ride, but with the recent flooding that has changed.  Someone in the area is now trying to plan a route for a Denver ride instead.  Saturday the 28th I'm doing a ride with a bunch of small cc vintage guys thru the foothills.  It's going to be a busy weekend for me!

Soooo, what's up?  Is anyone doing the DGR today?  Anywhere?  I'm going to be riding the Denver ride today.  There are 70 riders signed up as of this morning for the Denver ride, and at least 2 other riders and myself will be on Enfields!  There are going to be quite a few guys filming the ride with GoPro cameras and there was talk of collaborating all the videos into a short movie.  This is going to be such an awesome time!    :D

Might have to smoke some rubber for the camera.    ;D

I did the DGR here in New York City. It was pulled together sort of at the last minute, but it came off beautifully. About 60 riders showed up, with a preponderance of Triumphs new and old, but also a vintage Honda 175, a Tomos moped, and a Vincent (!). There were also a few non-vintage riders (here in NYC we don't discriminate). I was the only Enfield in the ride, and I got a lot of attention.

I met ahead of time with the NYC Brit Bike group (about 20 participants) and we rode together to the main meeting point. The whole group did a 13-mile loop around Manhattan, ending at a beer garden downtown. Here are a few of my pics (and I'll post a link to my video here when I edit it):

I am happy to announce that at one stop I counted 85 bikes here on the Denver ride.   And I must say there was a surprising number of women who came out to either ride solo or on the back with their man.  There were several people taking video with their Go-Pros and such, and we even had a chase car with 2 photographers!  The whole group is collaborating all their video and photos together and one guy is working on making a mini movie.  We had talked for the last couple weeks how we wanted to make the DGR for Denver the Best!  And it was certainly a whole lot of fun.

Then towards the end of the ride, the owners and staff of Erico Motorsports were kind enough to open their doors for us to admire all of their bikes and even had a giant cooler full of ice cold beer for us.     :D

And a cool video for good measure.   ;)

A walk around of almost every bike on the ride at City Park in downtown Denver.

  • Yes, shrubberies are my trade. I am a shrubber.

By luck I was driving down the Kings Road London on Sunday, and heard the thunder of a mass of bikes... I asked where they were off to, and why and they informed me they were on the DGR and were off to The Ship in Wandsworth, we high tailed it to the pub, and sure enough, a throng of suited bikers, great day, will definitely go along next year. After chatting to my step daughter in Auckland, we found out she had attended the same ride in NZ !!!! Motorbikes.. You can't knock em !! :)
Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history.

Yeah, that gas tank kind of sticks out, huh.   ;)  Watching it again, I'm actually in there again at 2:53 getting off of my bike.  :)
