The only special tool you'll need is a big hex wrench to unscrew the forks. You can use the bar that holds your footpegs on if if you can't find a wrench that big. It's a pain in the ass job but all it takes is time. ERC
I use a hex head bolt. I put the bolt head in the top of the fork and double nut the threaded end with a washer in between the two nuts so it won't drop down into the fork. Have used this homemade tool a few times to take the forks apart.
