1945 WD Enfield resoration project

['45 WD CO]

I JUST enherited a '45 WD Royal Enfield in almost perfect shape!!!!  It last ran 10 years ago, and then was emptied of all her fluids and stored away in a garage.  Do I need to take certain first cautious steps to get her running, other than the obvious of adding fluids and a new battery?

Cool find!  If it was completely untouched and dry of all fluids for 10 years, you should pull the sparks out and put an ounce or so of motor oil into the cylinders and let it soak for a day or so.  Then very slowly kick it over for a while.  This will prevent cylinder damage if the piston rings have seized inside the motor.

You might also need to replace the gaskets and seals on the carb as they tend to dry out and leak from sitting for too long.

Get a pint of Marvel Mystery Oil and put a couple ounces in each cylinder and as the gentleman said...slowwwly kick it over, let it sit for 15 minutes..and do it again..and then again in another 15 minutes and then let it stand for a day or so. He is correct..this will help free up any rings, lube the cylinder walls and so forth.  Enjoy!
