Knobbies- the final touch!
« on: April 07, 2013, 07:02:36 PM »
I finally got the project done!
Military C5 with D&D Exhaust, bullet turn signals, pillon seat, 7" headlight.

They put the stick on type weights to balance the tires, i dont really like the look, they look cheap. im going to have to figure out the spoke ones or figure out something different...

Nice. Every thing looks like it belongs together.

What tires are those?

You can look at the wheel weight and it might say how many grams or ounces it is on it. Or you could take it off and weigh it.
Then, get an equal weight amount of lead electrical solder, and wrap it around the spoke nipple where you took off the wheel weight.

Hansel - love the look of those aggressive tires... very appropriate with the military paint job!

How visible are those rear bullet turn signals "close-mounted" to the housing?  I don't think I've seen anyone mount them exactly that way.  Does the housing block them from view at an angle?  Do you have a photo from the back?

Immaculate bike.  8)
Don't worry about those weights: for a military it should be function over form to be cool.
Interested in the knobbies. Would appreciate an evaluation on handling on the paved in dry and wet; and in the longer run durability.
Nice rides!   ;D

Those are actually trials tires that leave a lot more tread on the ground than Knobbies. They are better on the street than knobbies and are pretty decent out there. Decent rain tires, but the rubber (brand) can make some significant difference in traction. Unfortunately, I haven't run any of those in probably 40 years, so I can't really say what the best/worst ones are. I used to use Dunlops, but I don't know whether they still make them or not.

They are visible. I really want to get rid of all the turn signals as they arent required in Washington. I like a simple look.

Trial/enduro tyres befit a Bullet and especially a military looks wanting without them. Picture might mislead me, they resemble more the MX tyres as made by Maxxis, Kenda or Mitas.
Still befitting the motorcycle; as I started: immaculate bike.  :D

I dont know why but even the lower profile turn signals put me off. So i am going to:
Make the front pilot lights the turn signals, adding amber LEDs.
And for the rear i got some small round Amber LEDs that i think will match better.(http://www.lockhartphillipsusa.com/LP-USA-SPORTBIKE-DOT-LED-TURN-SIGNAL-AMBER-LENS.html)

Then i know i need a flasher kit and possibly a diode kit like this? http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/kuryakyn-diode-kit-for-metric-bikes-each/part/KY-4709
