Center Stand

I noticed that CMW has a center stand on clearance but it specifies for a LH shift and my '54 could really use a new one.
Does anyone know the difference between a LH and RH shift center stand?
Also, does the center stand on the newer models still pivot between the rear mounting plates on the transmission? The geometry still looks about the same from the picture.

I bought one of those stands, although I don't know the difference between the r and L hand shift. I'm building a bike, its going to be a custom fit anyway. No springs/fasteners included though.
On my bike (2004) the stand pivots just below the swingarm (chainstay?) shaft.
