A little ID help please

I'm trying to ID a RE motorcycle for my buddy. The numbers I found on the bike are;
1A 578 on the engine
AGZ 2750 on the gear box
4759 on the frame
Can anyone help ID this bike? It's been sitting in a garage for a few years and now he wants to get it up and running, but we need to know what it is first, right?
Thanks for your help,
JP

Hi JP,
Welcome to the forum! Can you post a picture or describe the bike?

The frame number is a bit odd for the bike. You have a series 1A Interceptor from 1968. The transmission number looks a bit older maybe series 1. The frame may be correct but usually matches the 3 digit engine number. I have some older frames from late 50s Indians that have similar frame numbers but even the old frames will work with a little modification for the top engine steady plates.
Check on Burton's Bike Bits web-site for an Interceptor register that gives a lot of identification information.
