700 trailblazer parts in US

Hi everyone. I am new here so I hope I am doing this correctly. My DH has an old Indian trailblazer (I want to say between 54-59? unsure of the year, I am leaning towards a 56) and we're looking to restore it. I am having a hard time finding parts. We're also restoring an old triumph...found parts here and there but the main focus right now is parts for this old beast. I found re-indian that has chain guards, brackets, and some covers but nothing major. Can anyone point me in the right direction??? It's been his dream for nearly 20 years to get her together and I'd like to help make that happen for him. Much appreciated

I think I would start by getting all the serial numbers I could find then give Classic Motor Works a call at 1-800-201-7472 and see if they could help determine the year, model, etc and parts availability.
You might also want to check out the Royal Enfield page at
http://forum.britbike.com/
and see if you could find some help there.

A previous thread mentions checking Hitchcock's and Burton's Bike Bits in the UK as well as checking with our host and a number of other sources here in the USA. You can get pistons, rings, gaskets, and some ignition parts here in the US if you know the right people to check with. Hard parts like engine cases, crankshafts, & transmission cases can also be found if you have patience.
If you post the engine number on the left side of the engine case just below the cylinder base, I can narrow your year model down to within several months of manufacture. The number may have three or four letters like SMPA for example followed by a four digit number. The rear early ones may have the number on the front of the engine case near the motor plates and it would begin with letter "T" or "W" or something like that. The Royal Enfield Owner's Club in the UK has a dating service on aproximately when the frame was made and who the original purchaser was. The frame number is on the headstock and is usually just a four digit number. Most Indians were purchased by Brockhouse for transfer to Indian Sales Corp as an exporter.
Good Luck and feel free to post any questions you might have to get you started.

A very good place to start is Helm Cycles in Milaca Minn. (320)369-4343 George has specialized in Indian RE's and has been selling, racing and restoring Indian RE's for over 50 years. Hope this helps. Hutch

Wonderful, thanks everyone! I at least have a starting place. I know chances are I won't be able to get it back to 100% but I am going to sure try. It's been a fun husband and wife project restoring the triumph and I like a challenge I'd love to see this Indian on the road. I am going to dig her out this weekend and get the numbers so hopefully can figure out a year.
