New Tail light.
« on: March 20, 2014, 12:02:41 PM »
Ok, So 2009 G5 UCE.  I am replacing the Brake light with a unit that is two wires instead of three.  Stock unit is Running light, brake light, ground.  Safe to say that the new unit is Running light, Brake light, Chassis ground.  This would mean that the fixture grounds through the frame instead of through the wiring harness.  should this concern me?  Originally I was going to find a way to isolate the fixture and attach a ground wire, but have not come up with plastic screws or plastic bushing to do so.

Thanks,

I've done this in the past as well.  I just connected a ground wire to the enclosure / light fixture and connected that into the harness . Works a treat! I would not worry about isolating the entire tail light fixture;  Just make sure you have a good reliable ground connection to that light bulb.  Either via the terminal on the light fixture or some other direct bond via metal.
