Brake Return Stop

Hi,

There is a bolt and lock nut that appear to be an adjustable stopper for when the rear brake pedal returns to position after letting up on the pedal. It's over on the left side where the brake rod connects to the arm.

What is the proper way to adjust this?

Also, the return spring (near the brake hub) doesn't seem strong enough to pull the pedal back up in position. Is there something I can do about this?

because I have an artificial right leg, I first adj the brake at the back by the drum and found the foot brake lever collided with the exhaust..so I adjusted the nut, I think You speak of, so as the brake pedal was under the toe, but I wasn't riding it, as to the brake light being constantly on or the brake shoes making contact..and I could catch it with my heel when needed.. I mostly use the front brake except in wet conditions...and then I  adjusted  the rear again and also the brake light switch

I just messed with it until I found what was right for me, also , I haven't noticed any problem with the return spring.

     Check your grease fittings on your spindle, mine were clogged with grit and grime, and give it a squirt. There is another small brake return spring behind the gear box on the RH side. May be that yours is broke or missing. I adjust my brake so it is level with the peg. I don't like a strong rear brake. I locked up my rear wheel on a dirt bike, which wasn't so bad until I instinctively let up and unlocked it

Thanks for the information. I went ahead and lubed both fittings and adjusted the stop to the position that feels right. It's returning better now. I noticed that the brake light switch spring had come off so I put it back on. I have to look at/for the other spring you mentioned.
