RPM on Bullet 65

I have installed a Smith's tach on my 06 Bullet 65, stock 17 tooth c/s sprocket, Classic exhaust, S&B pancake filter, rejet carb. Engine runs at 3500rpm at 55 mph. It seems like the engine is running too hard. Is this normal, or do I need an 18 tooth sprocket?? If I change the sprocket, how much lower will the rpm be??

It does feel a little high when you hit 55-60mph (although the bullet speedo on my 04 65 is at least 5mph optimistic)

Thanks alot Blowout, that is just what I needed!!!!! When I get a few more miles in her, I might go to an 18 T sprocket.

Don't the new 5 speeds come with 18 tooth sprockets?
