Not happy about Smiths repro speedo
« on: October 26, 2008, 10:30:34 AM »
Well, I really hate sending stuff back. :-[ No doubt it got a hard knock somewhere
during shipping. I was attempting to advance the odometer to match my miles.
The speedo needle works fine, however the odo isn't advancing. :'(

I'd have kept this speedo had it worked properly. Even though it's got the tick
mark at 41mph. While it's an interesting bit of British society.I'd really prefer it
didn't have that on there. It's also not what's pictured in the catalog.

Who sold it to you?  Were you able to return/exchange it without hassle?

Ordered through my dealer from the CMW catalog. Took about 3 months
for it to arrive. But to be fair, I heard that customs had the shipment for
close to 2 months. Those F-tards probly dropped it. knocking something
loose in the odometer. The face is machine crimped onto the case. So
taking it apart isn't an option. :-\
Exchanging items from CMW is pretty much painless. But depending
whether it's in stock or not. Could take a week. Or a couple months.
Riding seasons nearly done here in the frozen wastlands of Ohio. :P
So I'm in no hurry anyway.

I hear you about the discount. Maybe we will for a winter sale (no promises). Actually 30 is not as many as you might think. They move well and the supply line is long and unsteady.
