Tool Bag
« on: August 26, 2008, 08:13:53 PM »
I bought this tool bag the other day from the Army/Navy store here in town.

It looks real good on the bike and has plenty of space for tools and other pockets for stuff like wallets, phones or whatever. My friends at work really liked it and I got good comments on it at the bike night as well.

Might be another option instead of leather for Classic to start selling.

Is it waterproof?

Unfortunately no, it's not. It is a pretty stout canvas with an inner cloth liner so a light rain isn't going to get into it deep.

Head out to your local camping store -

First, look for some seam sealer. It's used for tents and seals the sewn seams. One kind: "Kenyon seamsealer 3" 'water based formula waterproofs sewn seams'

Also, look for "Sno-Seal, All season leather protection". I had a new pair of leather hiking boots that soaked in the water - after applying, they worked great as waterproof. It's a beeswax & although it's really for leather, It should work great for canvas. The water will bead on the canvas - although it will likely darken the color.

You will also find a lot of things at the camping store that work well on a motorcycle.
