Another question...

I noticed in the owner's manual, it uses the term "gasohol" fairly consistently. Does this reference the fairly pervasive addition of up to 10% ethanol, or is this a reference to E85?
 
And, generally, will it run on regular gasoline (octane 87) or does it need higher, such as premium (octane 91 or 92)?

I did fill it with regular twice since I got it, and got 72.5 mpg on the second tank.

It refers to gasoline with some ethanol in it NOT E85. A rule of thumb is :If is it liquid and you hold a match to it and it burns it is OK to run in the Royal Enfield". That of course is an exaggeration. I once saw one run on Kerosine but it smoked, wheezed, coughed etc. 87 Octane is fine to use. The compression ratio is only 6.5:1 to allow for a wide vatiation in fuel. When it is hot outside and I think I will be running with a lot of throttle such as up long hills I sometimes put premium in mine though. If you every hear your bike "ping" check the timing and make sure that it is  not overadvanced, if that is good, try a little higher grade of petrol.

WRT the octane: Pull your right sidecover and see if there isn't a sticker that indicates the recommended octane. Mine says 87 or higher.

I always run the highest available. At 75 mpg I can afford it
