Tail Light rubber gasket connector thing
« on: August 18, 2014, 04:04:36 PM »
Hi,

2003 Bullet 500 ES

Which adhesive do I need to bind the stock tail light rubber connector to the fender? I've already tried Black silicone glue as recommended from the Autozone guy and no luck. Or is it a special tape?

thanks

You can get some door trim material from just about any hardware or auto parts store to fit around it.  The bolt that goes through the fender into the stock light housing should hold it tight enough that you don't need glue.

Cool, thanks for your response - i'll look for that material. That's exactly how it's on right now (the one bolt), but it still ends up at 45 degrees crooked after a few minutes of riding. I believe it's as tight as it can be but will see if i can make it tighter.

Goop glue may be able to stick that rubber gasket to the back of plate. After applying, press the gasket to plate for several hours to let it fully bond. Most glues, including Goop, would not last forever and would need reapplication at some point down the road.

A comparison of different glues for metal to rubber -
