I think it's often neccessary to decide if it's more important to be right, or be fiends.
For a while, years ago, I lived with a very right-wing Rebuplican. I never quite understood why we were such good friends. years later, I realized that whever a controversial topic came up and we were about to kill each other, he would roll a huge joint (? !) and I would turn on the TV. I think it's often neccessary to decide if it's more important to be right, or be fiends. I find myself wishing more people and politicians would decide to be Americans rather than to be "right". There are plenty of other places to throw doody, so in this particular case, i don't mind the judicious use of a ray gun.
McCain said he was one of the few people in Congress who kept his word and whose word meant something. His past aside, that is pretty high praise. There is a lot to criticize but apparently there are things to admire as well.
