The problem with putting oil in your gas is that oil is not gas. When you do this, your engine is receiving less fuel (gasoline) per intake stroke. Which is OK, if less power is what your after. This is just one of the reasons that 2 strokes don't rule the world. If your "additive" is not at least as flamable as the fuel in the tank your losing.

Old 2 stroke racers, put just enough oil in the gas to keep engine seizure from occurring.Again to get all the power from the gasoline less the oil.

It did not matter if the engine needed a tear down, that was going to happen after each race anyway.

I second that motion.  Plus, used motor oil probably has some dust-sized metal particles in it that should help seat in those rings on your new 2009 Bullet.

Just put about 4 ounces of the old farm hand Marvel oil in the old GL500 Silverwing I'm rebuilding.  Man forgot how much gunk that stuff will remove from a carb/intake valves.  Sheesh, looked like a 318 Detroit for about 5 minutes.  But man did it smooth it out.  Think I might try a couple ounce charge in the Enfield at next fill-up.  Will.

OK...let me get this straight...two ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil per 3.8 gallon tankfull (allowing a little room for expansion,of course),and two ounces in the oil,per oil change? That sound about right to all you RE gearheads? My old man always had Triumphs and BSAs,and swore by the stuff...should I be putting it in my iron lung 2002 Bullet Classic?

I've never put it in oil -I don't see the point as the whole oil tank is full of....

       wait for it ~

  OIL.

I do use it in the gas, though.

I use synthetic ashless 2 stroke oil in my gas,a ratio of one ounce per 5 gallons of gas, sometimes in my car too. Iron Bullets need all the help you can give em, But I'm partial since I work as an outboard mechanic

It will also keep gunk from building up in your carb and intake path.  After the first tank you should notice a change, keep us posted on your findings.  Will.

You gotta start using the old noodle in these tuff economic times folks.

Lets see.... 1 quart used motor oil to 1 gallon gas , should be about right to keep the top end all lubed up, o2 sensors can be replaced. Cheesy

       Geez thats 25%--- your joking?

Don't worry about the police they wont be able to see you for the smoke.

Yes Clamp, it was a joke. So far, you are the only one to get it.

The only additive I use is a fuel stabilizer, because it is cool and damp, and my machines can sit for periods.

Oh, I add oil to the gas(petrol) on my 2- strokers ( chain saw and weed eater).

I added 2 ounces of MMO to my full tank of gas today,as well as 2 ounces to the oil...put 20 miles on the clock, pulled the carb and checked the slide...and I'll be damned if it's not clean as a whistle! I'd been having some varnish build-up in my carb,as well as a sticking throttle, and this seems to help...hmmm...232 miles on my odometer, and she REALLY wants to go faster...I cant wait to get the old gal broken in properly,so I can finally give her 4th gear...I'll keep y'all posted on how the MMO works out...thanks again,Will...Bullethead63~

I  knew a guy who used to race a Hudson Hornet back in the 50s, who always put 2 stroke oil in his gas.

I have seen 'scented" oils for bikes. They are the most ridiculous thing like bubble gum scent etc. I'd really like to find something you could put in the petrol to give you that old school Castor smell
