Sleeve valve motorcycle

Here is an interesting machine, the Grindlay-Peerless:

http://www.realclassic.co.uk/grindlaypeerless.html

I read a write-up in a bike mag on one of these. No valve clatter - all you get is a nice fat exhaust beat from the Barr and Stroud sleeve valve v-twin engine.

Maybe Ace would fill us in on the pros and cons of that technology.

Nice old scooter.  I'm also interested in the internal workings/lack thereof.  Sounds almost like some sort of reed induction system.  Will.

I'm not really familiar with the sleeve valve, but from an initial glance at the design in Wiki, it seems to have alot of moving mass, and a large surface area for friction.
They say some good things about it for advantages, especially Ricardo, so that's in its favor.

I'd have to play around with one before I made any specific comments, and being able to do that probably isn't going to happen.
