FAQ: How to Post Pictures & Attachments

A lot of forum users have contacted me about including pictures and attachments with their posts. Basically, there are two ways to go about it.

Method #1: Link to an External Image

If you have already uploaded the picture elsewhere (like Flickr, Picasa,  Photobucket or your own blog/website), all you need to do is click on the "Insert Image" button while editing your post:

Then, paste the URL for your uploaded image between the square-braced img tags:

When you publish or preview your post, your image will be displayed in-line along with the contents of your post!

Method #2: Upload an Image as an Attachment

If the image you want to include is not already hosted elsewhere, you may upload the image to the forum with your post and it will be displayed as an attachment. To do this, start and edit your post (as usual) and click on the arrow next to "Additional Options". Be sure to do this before submitting your post:

Then, from the additional options displayed, click on "Choose File" to display a prompt allowing you to select an image from your computer:

If you want to add more than one image attachment to your post, click on the "more attachments" link to display additional file selection buttons:

When all of the images you wish to include have been attached to the post, click "Post" to publish your post. It may take a little longer than usual to publish your post while the images are uploaded from your computer. When the process is complete, you will see your images included at the bottom of your post as image attachments!
