Whats planed for the winter?????
« on: December 20, 2009, 03:16:49 AM »
For me.... Removal of the starter and all related components. Primary & drive chain adjustment. Possibly, 20 tooth sprocket, high output oil pumps and classic silencer.

from 69' Beetle to 09' Bullet more than a fair trade.

Riding it.

I must retreat to my place of Zen and meditate on this.

Install a few more doodads:

  • Hagon shocks
  • 7" headlight
  • Ace Air Canister
  • New composite head gasket

Getting it on the road as early as possible this Spring.

Laying out plans to attain funds for a second Bullet to turn into a Continental-type racer, with Ace performance cams/head/piston, stronger bearings and valve components, Smiths speedo and tach, performance tires, larger front sprocket, maybe a different gearing if that's even possible on this bike. Wondering if I can get it to do the tonne. This project will be a ways off, though.

Actually I'm installing the 50's style levers with 40's style handle bar, high pressure oil pumps, new fuel pet-cock, clutch roller pad, improved primary chain tensioner bolt.  Already installed the new saddle brown seat cover.  Am thinking about hard tailing mine.  Also have many other small upgrades that I'm going to perform.  Will just have to fire up the bullet heater to warm the shop.  Will.

well.. I thought about putting a wood stove in the garage so I could work out there.. so I bought one for 225$  and found out I would have to spend another 300$ on pipe to get it out of the garage,, and my insurance company frowns on wood stoves anyway , so I took it back..  been using a kerosene heater to break the chill..  but still had to wear all sorts of clothing..  drug out a 100,000 btu reddy heater I havn't used in 18 years out of the corner of the garage..  pretty rusted..  had to wd 40 the fan to un freeze it..  and you know what.. with 18 yeaqr old kerosene , that sucker worked..   :o  within a short time I was shedding my jackets and turned the fuel gobbling space heater off..  totally amazing that the fuel didn't go bad....  so now I have warmth..  and am still working on putting that 200cc KiKker 5150 kit bike together.. the RE looked happier too with the warmth,  my wife's Harley, well , looked like a Harley..  and my 68 AMX looks promising to work on .. now that I have real heat.. ;D

2 great sources for parts to bikes of that era: www.cycleorings.com and www.z1enterprises.com and don't forget about a good, long bath in carb dip. i'm taking #1 out today after 48 hours. 30 yr-old gunk should be gone for sure. on to #2.

Finally got the 50's handlebar control set ordered along with the 40's style handlebar and a few other piecy parts for my winter upgrading fun.  They'll join the other accessories sitting in the office waiting their turns to be installed.  High pressure oil pumps still aren't here as well as the rest of that order.  Oh well can't put it all on at once.  Will.
