I am happy for you to have found  new employment so quickly . I know that four months with little or no income sucks with a mighty wind .My own finances have leveled off so. I plan on getting Old Bill back on the road this weekend. If this good weather holds lets get together and find a good Barbeque stand somewhere .

Well I was all set to get my Mikuni and other
goodies when the washing machine went belly up.
500 just for the parts.Not going to put that much in it.
Of course we cant cant just replace the washer ,it has
to have the matching dryer per OCD wife.Bye Bye
Bullet money.
Now it looks like I may have to settle for the 30mm flat side
to go with Ace canister,Goldie exhaust .

It's always good to have a backup plan like you obviously have. The PWK is a great upgrade that you will be happy with. I installed a 7/8" phenolic spacer on mine which seems to keep the heat away from the carb. Love this carb!

          That's the carb I'll probably end up with after I wring this BS-29 on my '08 AVL to death (It's a lot better now that I've raised the needle another shim).

I have often wondered about bolting a carb directly to
the head with no rubber in between  to soak up
the vibration and insulate against the heat.
Seems like the needle and needle jet vibrating would
soon lead to wear on these parts causing a change the
profile of the needle or jet.What say you brothers.

I bought the spacer at a cycle parts store. I think it was listed for a Triumph but fits perfect on the Bullet. I know Hitchcock's sells them and probably any British motorcycle parts house. I bought some longer stainless studs and fasteners to replace the bolts.

The work schedule is still influx....Sundays and Tuesdays are my off days...need to get the RE out in a bad way.

I think the Bullet is what it is. It has its limitations. However there are things that can be done within those limitations to get the most out of the bike.

Free flowing breathing/exhausting, little bigger carburetor, maybe a slightly larger front sprocket will surely help and I don't think will stress the bottom end.

There are lots of things that can be done and good results achieved just by reworking and tweaking the standard parts !
