Not quite, but the lid to the air box had popped open.  Guess I need some duct tape and to order some parts.

Still a great ride in thoug :)

Guess I need to add the locks to the list of items to (regularly) check and maybe add a little loctite.  :o

LocTite wouldn't have helped, the zinc in the lock noddy cracked and the hasp fell off.  I had noticed it looked like it had opened just a hair, should have looks closer.

Picked up two grey/green us military medical bags to use as temporary saddle bags. Total cost $20. $18 for the bags and $2.00 for a canteen to keep my 2 year old happy.

At least he didn't ask for a bayonet/sword and proceed to beat you with it.  Don't ask, just be forwarned.

Remember when army/navy surplus stores carried real surplus?  Like bayonets and machetes and giant bomb casings?  Bygone days...

Some of my favorite days were wandering around surplus stores.  And all that WWII stuff was considered junk.  No made in China fake surplus.  Never saw Korean War stuff - the Marines were still issuing it to us in the 1970's LOL

He wanted an e-tool. The one he dropped on my for while running around in a WWII helmet. Fortunately I live close to a real surplus store. The bags I picked up were real. Names written inside and all.

Far out!  He'll need an e-tool and a helmet.  At least a helmet liner 'til he's bigger.  8)

Grey military bags just were not right. A buddy had a set from his Sportster that did not fit. $20 plus $10 for a touch of hardware and 2 hours of measuring, cutting leather, whomping with a mallet etc and the bike has bags. Pictures tomorrow, the rain came as I finished up.

While fixing my front brake I took some time to clean up my bike. I also adjusted the chain. Are the C5 chains different than the G5 and B5 chains? I've had the bike for a year and this is the first time I have had to adjust the chain and there seems to be no wear on the cogs.

Rode the vintage bike 220 miles today.  Left home at 9am and returned by 6pm.  Rode farm roads, country roads out to a biker bar/ grill.  RE was the most popular bike today.  On the way back, stopped for a water break and a guy at the filling station offered me $5k for the bike.  I said no.  His buddy with him told me while while the other guy went inside the store that he was a collector and had lots of vintage bikes.  I said that was a fair offer but I'm having too much fun riding it...

Wished I had money for better tires after riding 30 miles home in pouring rain. Thanked God for helmets, goggles and bandanas. Time to grab a towel and dry off.

Had an idiot in a jeep back into my parked G5. :'(  The one I just got on Wednesday. Fortunately, the foot peg took the fall, however I was shook up and did not get all of the drivers info, hopefully my insurance agent can track him down.
Total damage:  Bent left foot peg (shifter clearance is actually somewhat improved)
Taillight got pushed into the license plate housing by the jeep
Small scratches on bar end weights, clutch lever and left passenger peg
and most upsetting, the front fender lost some paint on the front left edge.

A lot of people are stupid and a lot of people suck and have no common sense.  Sorry to hear your bad luck.  At least it sounds like the damage was very minimal.  Still bites the big one, especially considering the bike isn't even a week old.
