Yesterday I cleaned melted plastic off my exhaust. It was a pain in the butt, however it was my fault to begin with. Boy what a mess.

1.Wash
2.Rinse
3.A1 Speedwax for the paint
4.Nev'r dull for the engine cover
5.WD40 for wheel rims
it really feels good when a C5 looks shiny again...  :)

Dear Ekatus,  I despise WD-40. It gets gooey, attracts lint/dirt & is hard to get off. I prefer to use an easily applied thin WAX. It protects, SHINES & does not attract dirt.  Cheers, Craig McClure, Jasper Ga. USA

Never use WD-40 for anything other than light cleaning. It does nothing else.

Cans of WD-40 make great flame throwers. Attempt this at your own risk.

Rode it to "Yosemite National park"  (sunday july 14th ) and back doing my first 270 mile round trip in the same day...was awesome the weather on the other hand at the park was almost 94, to the most comfortable, but overall its always a blast at Yosemite..

That's the only use I have for the junk.

@all thanks regarding WD40 - I always thought I do something good to the wheels. Dirt & oil from the secondary chain was easily removed with a rag and WD40..

...sigh

No reason to sigh. :)
As you noted, the WD40 does a good job of cutting thru chain lube.  It also works good at chasing water out of tiny hiding places (hence the name WD, water displacement).

Several people I know use it to chase the water out of the breech plug threads on their muzzleloading rifle barrels when they've finished cleaning them.  (Black powder guns are cleaned with water, not petroleum solvents).

My only concern about using it to clean off the rims on my bike would be the unknown effects of a petroleum solvent like WD40 on the inner tube.  I have no doubts that it will readily sneak down thru the spoke nuts and get inside to where the inner tube lives.

Oh, WD-40 also makes awesome catfish bait. I thought my bike had an issue riding  to work. There was popping, slapping, snapping etc.. I pulled over once it was safe to realize I never closed my saddle bag. Lesson learned.

+1.  Great to displace water.  I had a friend who sprayed all his tools on his boat down every time he was done using them, then back in the toolbox.  On wheels in particular, it is going to sneak into the spoke nipples and I'd be worried about the tubes too.  It'd be fine to spray some on a rag and wipe off the wheels, but I'd use something after that to clean off the WD.

I have found threads here and there of people swearing up and down that WD-40 is all they ever use to clean and lube their chains and they swear it works and they get good life out of their chains.  To each their own I guess.  I think it's more suited for door hinges on my house.

Started my new job today and spit out a total of 4 qts of oil on the way there and back.  Thought it was severe blow by from highway speeds.  Nope.  Return pump is bad.    :(  How in the world the engine didn't seize in either direction, is, well, incredible?   ???
