Tank showed up today, and it's already seen better days...  the threads for the fuel pump and level sensor are a mess...  any clue what size the fuel level sensor is so I can try to push a bolt through there?  also chipping around the pump, and I haven't been able to seat one of the 5 allens properly on the pump due to nasty thread...  Bike is coming back together, IF i put everything on, squint and thump I'm golden...  Oh and the weather turned AWESOME....

This is a new replacement tank directly from Enfield, correct?  If so, the reason the threads are "nasty" is because they don't plug them before they paint the tanks.  Take one of the bolts to the hardware store and buy a threading tap of the correct size and chase the bolt holes.  This should make things easier for you and not damage any threads.

Just finished crashbar back.
I did it with stainless steel tube 22 mm. and 90 bends welded.
Very finishing work with a file and sandpaper and then polishing with abrasive paste.

Replaced my burnt up Sparx with a Tympanium rectifier and then I went out and made a bunch of noise.   ;D

Yep !  got it from N'field gear.  only thing it needed to mount on the B5 was a pair of heavy duty, stainless steel, rubber lined, pipe hangers.   I had to buy a box of 10 .....  so if you go this route let me know and I'll mail ya a pair.

I just ordered one through Nfield via the RE dealer (that way I don't pay shipping) and I may have grabbed their last tan pillion! :-)

Clutch cable broke:  :o
Still 11 kms from dealer, who rushed to my assistance:  8)

Clutch cable made it to 28400 km. Normal or excellent (good/bad)?
As always a good day.  :D

I carry an extra clutch cable with me. I still remember that from when I had a '66 Triumph. Since there are 2 throttle cables, I don't need to carry one of those. I have 2 Japanese bikes that have been converted from dual cable to single cable, so I know how that works.

Just got back from a ride, now has 1238 miles on it. Thinking about heading up north tomorrow or Saturday. It's already getting to hot down here for me. 98 degrees today. Riding season is just about over.

The dual throttle cable is to keep the throttle butterfly from fluttering open on backfires, etc.  One cable pulls it open, the other keeps tension so it doesn't fly open too far.  A carb is very tolerant of that behavior, an EFI with throttle position sensor is not ;)  I'm sure you could limp home with pull only if you had to.

Scottie, Figured as much...  Any idea what size the fuel sensor is?  Or would the best bet be to just carry the whole tank in?
