Speaking of the "Enfield thump", how many miles do I need to put on mine before I hear it?  800 so far, and I'm just not gettin' any.  Still idles too high, too.  If ADB's "before" video (D+D Exhaust thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wJHHdihXCg&feature=plcp) is a proper indicator, I may have an impostor...

The primary leaks. I may have overtightened it. Whats the recommended torque spec for that.

mounted a rescue mission on mine to recover him from where I had to dump him yesterday after he broke down.Luckily I had my mate with me so at least I got a ride home on a Tiger 90.So its off to the dealer again for "Stan".Hope its just a loose wire and nothing too traumatic.Just when things were going so well.

The primary cover on the iron barrel bikes is held by one nut in the middle.
It is VERY important to not over-tighten that nut, because it might warp the cover and then it will never seal.
Remove the cover, clean the large o-ring that seals the circumference, and remove it for cleaning if necessary. Don't stretch it, or you'll need a new one.
Grease the whole o-ring with axle grease, and maybe put a little in the o-ring grooves too, and that acts as a sealant, believe it or not.
Tighten it up to about 10 foot pounds and see if that holds the oil, maybe 15 foot-pounds if you need to tighten it. That's that should do it.
If that doesn't do it, then you have a warped cover or a bad o-ring, or something like that.

I got  my short problem eliminated, hopefully cured, as I never did find a definitive short. I did find several bare wire bits that could've caused the short. I fixed those and did some wire rerouting so the wires aren't as tight as a G string. I pulled a lot of connectors apart to try to find a short. I checked my alternator output and the R/R condition. They all passed.
I shortened my fuel line so it doesn't ride of top of the side cover. Just a big general once over. I took it for about a half hour ride and didn't have any problems, so now all I have to do is wait for the weather to cool off again and  do another epic ride.

Where were they in case I run out of things to do and want to look to see if mine are also damaged?
