I arrived home to Minneapolis & 60 degree weather,  after sleeping off the travel fatigue (and before unpacking) I grabbed my helmet and spent some quality time with B5 motoring around town.

I rode over the the local RE dealer and Ron Greene, who is now the head honcho at CMW, as Kevin has moved to Vietnam to set up a distributorship there. we had a chat about a variety of things, but the one of main interest I feel I can divulge is that the Cafe Racer (Crusader GT) will be at the Long Beach IMS show Dec 7-9.

Just to be clear.....I have been spending a lot of time in Vietnam. I am setting up RE here. However this is not a full time thing nor is it long term. I hope the business is but the US is my home and CMW is where I will return full time. Ron Greene (God bless him) has been filling in for me but I am still actively involved in CMW on a daily basis.

Thanks for the clarification. Ron was talking like you were going to be gone for quite awhile.

I have been working on this for about a year and have been in VN more of less full time for the past several months. I have come back and forth quite a bit. (about 150,000 air miles so far this year and counting). Ron is not wrong, but I will be tapering off here. I have to admit it did startle me to read my own obituary (of sorts).

I really like it here and can understand why so many people retire here. However CMW is my first love having started it in my basement (literally) and I am not ready to retire. Although very challenging at times CMW and RE are still a lot of fun.

I will say that were it not for Ron, Doneen, Tim, Jane, Gary and others CMW would not be possible. We are a small company with a single product and try to behave as if we were a much larger company. What those people accomplish in a day is miraculous.

Rode my bike to work the other day.  It must have been a while since my last ride.  All the vents on my jacket were open and that's certainly not good for riding in the current conditions!  It was a cool ride but nice just to get out.  The bike seems to run so nicely in the cold air.

My front brake has been acting mushy, I so I "blew" the air out of the system and replaced brake fluid. Took about 15 minutes with all the right tools.

I happily rode past 8,000 miles (12,903.2 km) on my G5.   :D

I was going to reward my bike by filling its tank with hi-test gasoline but I didn't want to give it any indigestion so it got the usual Chevron regular grade.  ;D

I was accosted by two good looking ladies at a set of traffic lights. They had just returned from India and were so excited to see an RE that they followed me off the interstate and pulled up next to me at the lights. They wanted to know if I had brought it over from India. Sadly they did not ask for my phone number. :(

Having finally fitted a wind shield a couple of weeks back took my 2011G5 for a spin down I880 on a couple of errands . Both the bike and I are more comfortable at freeway speeds now , The wind shield would seem to have reduced the drag from the almost upright sitting possition  , and 65- 70 mph is reached and held with less strain on both parties. Having fueled up prior to the ride I was also pleased to note that mods over the last few months have extended the bikes range from average 66/gallon to 75/gallon . Changed to an Indian Elektra efi short bottle silencer, fitted K&N air filter and 18 tooth gearbox sprocket . Now I am actually getting the mpg advertised , cool.
Now 2011 Royal Enfield G5 and just added 2014 Continental GT

1969 Ducati 350 Desmo Racer

Yep ! A windshield makes a nice difference. Every little bit helps.
I would much rather ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow    Jack
