It does look good, Gremlin - and vaguely familiar!  ;)  Glad to see you've got a nice looking right-side tank badge!  What will you do with the now empty right-side "tool box"?

What did I do today?  I went for a ride!  After... replacing my fuel tank - again; breaking and repairing my swing arm; installing Hagon rear shocks (don't notice a difference, maybe they're too stiff?), installing a new K70 rear tire... gosh, is that all I've done?  It seems like it's been forever and like I've done more than that!  Still to do: replace OEM chain and drive sprocket, replace fork oil, install new K70 front tire, install new EFI silencer, sort out a different way to install my saddle bags, and change signal and tail lights...  whew!

Well, it's good to see ole' gremlin doing something at last.  I guess working on a RE at 20 degrees below zero isn't as much fun as it was when he was a kid?

I do seem to recall he's got a few more kettles on the fire that have been waiting all winter for him to stir them?  Who knows what he might surprise us with next? :)

My upswept muffler came yesterday so today I went out to the curb and tossed it on. Its about 6" shorter than my EFI and definitely has a much louder thump. My new front fender and tire go on tomorrow.

I just got the new fender mounted and it looks great. Its the HD shorty fender from old bike barn. The mounting bracket had to be cut and redrilled but it was an easy install. My shinko 241 goes on the front tomorrow.

Thanks guys. I still have a list of things I want to do but it's definitely coming along. My wife is baffled at the amount of new parts my 2011 bike "needs"  haha

Verrry Nice!  Looking really good.  And I LOVE the Emgo cocktail shakers and I'm liking the header wrap on there.  I have a pair of cocktail shakers on my 700 twin and they are bad azz!   8)  Hope you don't mind loud pipes.    ;)

I ran the 12" emgo cans on my '71 Bonneville and they were pretty damn loud. This one is not too bad when the RPM's are low. Idling and normal cruising sounds great. When I really lay on the throttle it gets loud, but not so bad as to go back to the EFI.

Thanks for the compliments, I'm excited to see what the front end will look like with the bigger tire on. I'll post pics tomorrow.

Noooooo kidding!  ;D

Not to mention the time it takes a newbie like me to educate myself about what I'm doing before I do it; and, of course, to add the needed tools I don't already have!  I tell my wonderful wife that this is better than cheating on her - some days she's not so sure...   ;D

I'm pretty sure my wife thinks I want to marry my bike.  Perhaps we should start a new forum for all of our wives when we are in the garage and on rides. W.O.R.E.O.  - Wives Of Royal Enfield Owners    :D

Wait, upon further consideration of the above for mentioned thought, could really be a bad idea.  They might start ganging up on us.     ;)

Well I went back and forth about changing my front tire. I've built several bikes from the ground up but I've never changed a tire. It sounded like a bad idea. Especially since I have no garage and I have yo wrench alone on a downtown sf curb. I'm just too stubborn to pay to have it changed so I went too it. I don't have a jack so I put the bike on its center stand and used my back to press up on the headlight to get the front end up. Then I pulled the axel and the wheel then shoved a cooler under the forks. I only had the two tire irons that come with the bike and I forgot soapy water. So I knew it wouldn't be easy. When I put the first iron in and pryed it bent to a 45 degree angle. Not a good start haha. But after a couple tries I got the rotor side of the tire off. The other side came off pretty easily and the new tire was pretty easy to wrestle on. It was a pretty warm day and the rubber was nice and soft. All in all I'd say it wasn't a tough job at all. I'll definitely skip the tire shop on the future. I also put a yellow tint on the headlight and took off the tool boxes to expose more of the rear wheel. Good bike day for sure.
