Didn't get to do anything because it's storming all the bloody time. Go figure though. I have been offered a chance to work and live in Japan for a few years, and I am thining of turning it down because I will have to store the bike now that I just got going on it.

Don't let the bike stop you from going.  If that's the only thing holding you back, crate it up and ship it to yourself.   ;)

+1, take the opportunity.  Get something weird and cool to ride there that you'd never see here.

Glad you're ok Red, and it sounds like the crash bars saved the bike too.  Last time I was on gravel I was heading down a country road around 50mph and it just turned into gravel out of nowhere.  I survived that, went to meet a friend for dinner, and watched an old lady back up into and total my bike.  Weird day.

I rode to work today for the first time in a few weeks.  I've been travelling and sick so this was the first opportunity in a while.  The battery was a little weak but it fired up and ran.  Felt good to get out again.

They've got bikes in Japan that were never sold here.  Go for it and find something there for the interim.  I had a Yamaha 500 in Korea, left it there and brought back a wife.  It was junk, she was a keeper.

...I cheated on my Royal Enfield today by buying a 1993 Honda CB250 Nighthawk in very good condition, to use as a daily rider while my Enfield is away for a few weeks getting its warranty service.

The Nighthawk doesn't have the street presence of the Enfield, but it's a lot of fun to zip around on a lightweight 250cc bike...

Taking my motorcycle back to the dealer for it's first service.  It is a 160 km ride, winter, around 6 degrees Celsius and still dark when I leave.  I have been plotting routes and planning for the journey.  Getting a Hitchcocks silencer fitted and given I will have the five hundred kilometre mark passed, looking forward to the blast, relatively speaking, homeward.

Get a Suzuki ST250 (called TU250 in US) in Japan.  Looks like a mini RE. Great aftermarket support and ride/handling is superb.

Getting ready to put the last of the parts on the Trailblazer this morning.  After some disappointing confusion, and with the help of ERC, I was able to get my new rotor figured out and am ready to move forward.  Speaking of moving forward, it is going to be damn nice having my bike back on the road after having no means of conveyance for 3 weeks now.

SPOILER ALERT!!!  Once I get the bike started and warmed up I'm going to attempt to burn off the old rear tire.  I have a feeling I'm going to need to wet down the pavement.    ;D

Careful Scottie, wouldn't want to dump it after all the work you've put in.

I've owned enough bikes and attempted enough burnouts to know if the tire's going to spin or not.    ::)    My '83 Suzuki enjoyed doing them.  The 1 store I used to work at, we all had some kind of hot rod and our parking lot was riddled with black marks!  My best on the Suzuki was about 50' long.I haven't made an attempt on this bike so I don't know what it's going to do.  I do know that I can kick a 20' rooster tail in the dirt!  And besides, I said I was going to make an attempt, not go out of my way the break the bike right away again.    ;)  And if I can't do a burnout, my friend lives on a curvy dirt road, I can always go drifting instead.    :)

Had a great ride to work this morning.  I was feeling pumped so did my usual back road route but kinda wanted some speed so I jumped on the highway for the last little bit.  It wasn't crowded so I just punched it WOT and sped down the road.  The bike sounded great!  Really great!  Too great :(  I went to check for an exhaust leak when I got to work.  Not quite, but the lid to the air box had popped open.  Guess I need some duct tape and to order some parts.

Still a great ride in thoug :)

Score!  My local shop, which doesn't even carry Enfield any more, just happened to have a new lock leftover on the shelf.  Back on the road in 10 minutes!
