Vintage bikes didn't have turn signals!...........

I had a long debate with myself as to whether I was going to install turn signals or not.  I finally decided that if it never had them in the first place then they wouldn't look right no matter what I decided to do.  That's why I use arm blinkers.  ;D

Hand Blinker Signals; Need to tape this to my tank:
Left Hand down - Left Turn, Slowing Down, or Wave to oncoming Biker.
Left Hand Raised - Right Turn, Dyslexic Nazi, or Wave to oncoming Biker.
Left Hand Tap on Helmet - Speed Trap!, Helmet Loose, or Wave to oncoming Biker.
I get so confused.

Did my full 300 mile service (at 260 miles), replaced the grease spewing stock chain, upgraded to NGK plug, swapped in some L.E.D's, lowered my tire pressure. Painted in the "RE" on the side covers and starter cover. Adjusted the angle of my levers, cleaned the grease spray from around the kickstart bushing and rear wheels. Did some measuring to MAYBE fab up some ammo can mounts, but not sure how they will look on my black N chrome C5, maybe if I paint them black and pinstripe them in gold?.........

Installed new front LED bullet turn signals.  Nope, no weirdness, no random flashing, etc.  It all works.
The Green fades out in the flash, it is darker and almost matches in normal light.
Replaced the non-working OEM horn with an old, smaller, louder, Yamaha horn that was taking up space.

switched out the sportster muffler for one from a 1600 cc FXS.
quite a bit sharper exhaust sound.  seems like it might breathe easier at higher RPM.

I broke my mirror, and battery too apparently.  Did a 167 mile run today and visited with a new forum member Dan Kearney.  We had a good time talking about bikes and comparing the differences between the new and the old Enfields.  But while sitting at the bar my bike fell over on the rain soaked dirt parking lot.  A lady that saw us pull in happened to see it sitting it's side and came over to let me know.  No body damage, but the cheap cast mirror clamp busted.  And I guess the Advance Auto AGM battery didn't like being on it's side.  After a couple road closure detours I stopped on the edge of the Denver Metro to call my wife and check in and found out the battery completely failed.  I have no idea how I was able to kick start it, but the Sparx battery eliminator/regulator is the shit!  +1 to that bad boy.  Made it home without a hitch, aside from my electrical taped on mirror that gave me a good view of the right shoulder.   :D

But here's the kicker...  Somehow I did this 167 mile run into the Rockies dodging in and out of more torrential storms!  It was real nice when I left, then I get home only to find out that it was pouring out all around me.  Flash flood warnings all over the Denver metro again.  The roads were always damp or wet, even some re-closed roads/exits, but I never once got rained on.  It's crazy!  BTW The Blackhawk ran great at 8500' with no carb adjustments.

After three unsuccessful attempts of calling and ordering LED replacement bulbs for my turn/neutral/hi-beam indicators, I finally received the correct ones which I installed today. They are super bright!

Looked at it today and shook my head.  A lady ran me over in a parking lot last night.  I came out with a few aches and scratched glove and helmet.  The bike didn't fair as well as I did and had to be towed.  PG County Policeman and all the witnesses were very nice and helpful.  Even the Tow Truck Driver was a cool dude from Sierra Leone playing Reggae in his truck.  No details until it is all settled.  I am fine, and the bike can be fixed or replaced.
Those that don't wear armor or helmets because it isn't cool, be forewarned.  I might have a broken ankle and elbow without armor & boots, and would have kissed the pavement rather intimately on the mouth without a full face helmet.  As it is, I limped for 10 or 15 minutes.
The lady said she just didn't see me.  Sound familiar?

Received the ordered parts this week from Flanders in CA and Niche Cycle Supply in FL.  Flanders supplied the slotted stepped down throttle adjuster and Niche supplied the carb needle retainer plate and lock nut adjuster.  $12 total with $5 of that was postage.

Installed all three items and the throttle cable issues seem to be back to normal.  I hope that fixes it for some time.  As always, thanks for the advice you guys offered.  I learn new things everytime I work on this vintage bike.  Have a couple of shows coming in a few weeks.  Sept 28-29 in the Austin area for British vintage and then Oct 18-19 in Luckenbach for Vintage European.

Replaced my battery that failed yesterday and when I was at Advance Auto I found an ATV fender bag that I picked up on clearance for $12.99.  I don't have money for a new tank bag so I figured for $13 I'd see what I could do with it.  Turns out it mounts perfectly on the rear fender!  It has 2 separate pouches, so I used the smaller upper pouch for my tool kit and I can use the larger pouch for random stuff like drinks and/or my saddle can.  In my tool kit I have a small adjustable wrench, 1//4" bit/screwdriver with LED lights, a small screwdriver for carb adjustments, stubby phillips screwdriver to remove battery terminals and carb bowl,  needle nose pliers, 13mm ratchet wrench and a couple hex wrenches. In the small medicine bottle I have a tube patch, several different size bits for my 1/4" screwdriver, and extra fuses.

Reminiscent of days long ago riding my 1976 Honda GoldWing, I installed a heel/toe shifter on my 2013 RE Military.  Although I haven't had a chance to try it out on the RE, I recall liking it a lot on the Honda.

D the D, glad you're ok. An old lady backed into my last bike and totaled it, but I was lucky enough not to be on it at the time.  Bought my RE with the insurance money ;)
