I'm setting up a small workshop - damned it is expensive to buy a lathe and milling machine and a bike lift - these may have to wait - any suggestions about the latter 3?
As I'm sure everyone noticed, I'm crazy about my Big Red Harbor Freight Platform Lift- a great value for the money. I also need a lathe & a milling machine, & am waiting for vintage American ones a friend may part with.
You would do well to check out GRIZZLY TOOLS. They are at the quality upper end of the imported inexpensive shop machines. I have a friend who loves his Grizzly Mill & Lathe. I have had an excellent experience with their woodworking Machinery.  For occasional light work, Harbor Freight machines MAY be ok.
Best Wishes, Craig McClure

A hefty storm went over last night, with spring tide. Made for a noisy night. Went out to check out the aftermath in the woods. Still gusty but the sun shone as the innocence itself.
The charcoal stick that's supposed to heat the box in order to warm my fingers refused to glow. I gave up after the fourth attempt and used the engine instead. Back at home I lit the remains and now it kept on glowing.
That little box has a mischievous mind of its own.  ;)

The 3" Orbital polisher showed up from Griot's Garage, tried a few passes on the front fender. Turned out good, knocked out the oxidation on the Battle Green paint like that.

My enthusiasm for this project has been cooled by the outside temperature - it's about 30 degrees at midday, and that's real weird for Seattle. Usually it's a lot warmer and raining...

Same in Portland, just way too cold to even be in the garage.

Using the cold temps and lack of ride time to work on another (maybe better) version of the luggage/bag rack.

Spent some time at an oldtimer fair.
Saw these beauties. Saved them for you.

Nothing special, but set a new personal record today. Recorded 33.973 km/L or 79.909 US MPG ~ 80MPG on the Bullet 500. Very pleased. Didn't accelerate too much, and kept it below 51mph on this tank.

Congratulations.
That's the secret, keeping it around 50-55 mph and composed accelerating.
My record stands at 35 kpl from the breaking in period. Can't resist jumping the starting grid, alas.  :)

I got 80 on my first tank of gas, being over cautious on the breakin. Then I started looking at the numbers in the book closely and realized they were for four speed and totally changed the breakin procedure more fitting to the 5 speed. I never got 80mpg again, but I did average 70 mpg for the life of the bike! I got a lot of mid 70s, though.

I studded my tires and played in the snow for a while.  I was having fun and got cocky and went down kind of hard in 2nd gear.  I had a real nice drift going and didn't quite get the clutch pulled in on time.  Small dent in the gas tank where the throttle housing hit and tweaked my pretty new headlight mounts.  Oops!  I did cringe seeing the bike go down that hard but I jumped right back on.  I rode around for probably 30-40 minutes.  I should have counted all the crazy ass looks I got.  Good times!   :D

Ooooo, the guy who painted that tank is going to be pissed that you wrecked his work!
