EBAY: 1950s SPRUNG FRONT SEAT
« on: September 17, 2010, 12:35:03 AM »
If you have ordered from this company and or have tried this seat on a G5, please let me know what you think.  Price seems reasonable for real leather. US $124.99 plus $60.99  shipping.

Ebay item number: 130431596184

Can't be any worse than the one CMW sells.I put it on my G-5 and it sits off-center, is higher than I would like and has already busted a spring. This one seems to have more adjustment and comes with the pillion seat. I don't know anything about the company. Also check the dimensions; they also carry a large one.

There are a million versions of this seat in India one as different than the next. There is no single source for them. They are ALL handmade. Both Allan Hitchcock and I have tried to find a single 1st class maker of these seats but none exists.

If the spring broke on one you bought from us we will of course replace it for free.

Searched the forum on the subject.  A company called CMW keeps coming up but I can not find it on-line.  Any direct links would be much appreciated.

They are the US importers of Royal Enfield and hosts of this site.  If you want something you don't see on the website, they may still be able to help you over the phone.

And some of us think that "Kevin Mahoney" guy is involved somehow. He just seems to know stuff.

By the way, the spell checker thinks it should read Kevin Ma honey.

I have 2 of those seats from 2 different suppliers.   Both are good seats, but attaching them you might need to get creative.   On mine I lowered them by getting shorter springs for the rear and drilling the front frame bracket to attach the rails of the seat directly.   I don't know how the front bracket on a G-5 is but I am sure something can be done.

I purchased mine from CMW/Nfield gear couple years ago..no major problems but have busted a couple springs.  Got replacements fast and at no charge.  Can't beat the service Kevin and the folks at CMW give.

Ordered one from Nfield.  May be more expensive in the long run but I do appreciate good customer service.

Thanks.

Received the classic solo seat from CMW.  Having a heck of a time getting it installed.  Can you send me a few pictures of your set-up?

Thanks.

Here are some pictures of how one of mine is attached, as low as I can get it.
I have a classic frame so it will be a bit different but should give you and idea.

Rear bracket on my 95

Rear on my 07'

Front of 95, the 07 is the same.

Hope these help....
